Rambelles fall in double overtime to Ouachita Baptist

Maggie Schaffer
SAN ANGELO – Ouachita Baptist's Morgan Pitchford scored on a free kick from 20 yards out in double overtime for a 2-1 win over Angelo State on Saturday at the ASU Soccer Field.

"There are no excuses for this loss today and I expect more from our team in the future," ASU head coach Travis McCorkle said. "They were a team that battled us throughout, but we should have won."

Selena Alvarez scored on an unassisted goal in the 17 minutes into the second half to tie the game after Pitchford had scored on a corner kick 20 minutes into the game. The Rambelles survived three shots on goal in the first overtime, but a free kick in the second overtime gave the left-footed kicker the opportunity to go upper net for the win.

The Rambelles return to action at 4 p.m. on Sunday against Wayland Baptist.

"The silver lining today was that we did a good job competing in the air," McCorkle said. "We have a game tomorrow and we have to come back and get a better performance from our entire team than we did today."
