Colorado State-Pueblo Box Score | Fort Lewis Box Score | Tournament Central

Darian Dunn
CANYON – The No. 17 Angelo State softball team continued rolling to wins shutting out Colorado State-Pueblo 12-0 and beating Fort Lewis 11-2 in five innings on the second day of the Woodward WT Invitational in Canyon.

The Rambelles are now 9-4 overall and have outscored opponents 42-3 in four games this weekend.

"We are in a good zone right now," head coach Travis Scott said after the games. "We are facing some good pitching and we are swinging it really well. We are going to be fun to watch throughout this season. Sandra (Serna) threw another gem and Kenedy (Urbany) threw well." Scott said. "It was good to get everybody in the game and get some quality at bats."

The Rambelles continued their strong play in the first game of the day. ASU recorded 14 and scored 12 runs while Sandra Serna limited the Thunderwolves of Colorado State-Pueblo (2-6) to only three hits.

Serna threw all seven innings in her fourth win of the season striking out four. It is her second-straight win and second-straight game the senior did not allow an earned run.

The runs started in a big way in the first inning. Morgan Spearman walked to start the game and Micherie Koria reached on a bunt single to bring up Darian Dunn. The sophomore took a pitch deep to center for her fifth home run and a 3-0 ASU lead.

Megan Granado and Tina Cisneros both reached on singles and would score to make it 5-0 after the top of the first.

The Rambelles wouldn't get on the board again until the fourth inning. Dunn scored on a sacrifice fly from Kenedy Urbany to extend the lead to 6-0.

ASU put the game away in the top of the seventh. Spearman and Carly Peters both hit two-run home runs and the Rambelles racked up six runs on six hits. It is Spearman's first home run of the season and Peters third of the season. Cisneros, Urbany,
Rachel Moore and Kelci Garza all got hits in the seventh.

Game two started much like game one did for the Rambelles. Dunn hit a three-run home run to left center to put ASU on top 2-0.
It is the sophomore's second home run of the day and sixth of the season. One batter later, Granado hit her second home run of the season.

Fort Lewis (3-5) changed pitchers after the second home run and the runs didn't stop. Urbany, Moore, Peters and Ambra Hill all scored before the first inning was over and a 7-0 advantage for the Rambelles.

Kelly Johnson would score in the second inning to make it 8-0 on a RBI single by Moore.

Urbany would pitch three innings in the start to earn her fifth win of the season.

Another run came in the fourth after Hill reached on an error that scored Urbany.

Fort Lewis added two runs in the fourth off reliever Mary Kate McKay. The senior pitched two innings of relief allowing five hits.

ASU got the two runs back in the top of the fifth inning. Katlyn Herzog doubled to start the inning and would score on a Dunn double. Cisneros brought home Dunn to make it 11-2.

The inning didn't end just yet. With two outs McKay was brought to the plate for her first career at-bat. The senior took the first pitch to right field for a single and her first career hit. McKay turned around and ended the game in the circle in the fifth.

"We need one more to finish tomorrow," Scott said, "Metro State is a good ball club so we need to be ready for them tomorrow."

The Rambelles will play Metro State tomorrow at 11 a.m. to finish up the Woodward WT Invitational in Canyon.
