SAN ANGELO – The No. 24 Angelo State softball team swept Texas A&M-International winning both games at Mayer Field today 12-8 in game one and a 19-0  five inning run-rule in game two.

"The top of our lineup is really zoned in right now.  It was great to get good at bats up and down the lineup and off of the bench.  Sandra threw a great game and Kenedy competed."

The Rambelles (17-7, 2-1 LSC) outscored Dustdevils (9-14) 31-8 in the two games and 42-13 for the series. ASU pounded 25 hits with three doubles and five home runs.

The first game was a slug fest as the two teams combined for 20 runs.

Texas A&M-International took an early 1-0 lead after the leadoff hitter scored on a double by the Parnin. ASU rallied as Morgan Spearman scored on an error by the shortstop.

Kenedy Urbany threw a scoreless second and the bats came alive in the bottom of the second. Tina Cisneros walked to start the inning. Lanie Robinson hit an RBI single to score Cisneros. Ambra Hill and Spearman hit back-to-back singles before Micherie Koria hit a double down the left field line to score two. The Dustdevils cut it to 6-4 with a three run home run by the first baseman in the top of the third. Megan Granado answered with a solo home run over the scoreboard in centerfield. It is the third home run for the junior.

The Rambelles extended their lead to 12-7 with five unearned runs in the bottom of the fifth. With two outs, Robinson reached on an error by the third baseman and Hill hit a single to second base. Spearman hit a two-RBI double to right and Koria's single through the left side scored the senior from second base. Dunn hit a pitch deep to left field for her ninth home run of the season. Dunn finished the game going 2-for-4 and four RBIs s

It was 7-4 in the top of the fifth and Urbany found a groove and put the Dustdevils down in order in the fifth and sixth innings. Urbany won her ninth game of the season after six innings of work.

Game two was a combination of a stellar pitching performance and the bats staying hot.

Sandra Serna threw five innings and only allowed three hits while striking out six. It is the senior's fifth win of the season and second shutout of the year.

The bats stayed hot in game two and ASU scored quickly and often. Spearman hit a bunt single and after two wild pitches would score on a Koria sacrifice fly. Cisneros would plate Dunn on a sacrifice fly for an early 2-0 lead after one inning.

Carly Peters and Koria pulled off a double steal in the second inning. Peters was at third and Koria hit a single and would steal second allowing Peters to steal home.

With Serna still throwing well, the Rambelles broke the game open in the third inning. Spearman and Dunn would both hit home runs and six other Rambelles would record a hit. ASU would score nine runs in the third off eight hits.

The fourth inning saw Kelly Johnson hit a grand slam, the first home run of her ASU career, to extend the Belles lead to 19-0. Johnson went two-for-two and led ASU with five RBIs in the second game.

Serna only allowed four base runners and didn't give up a walk the entire game.
