Game One | Game Two

SAN ANGELO –
The No.24 Angelo State softball team won game one 15-9 and came back in game two 9-6 in a doubleheader to sweep No. 4 Texas Woman's at Mayer Field on Saturday afternoon.

The Rambelles (20-7, 4-1 LSC) offense stayed hot outscoring the Pioneers (18-6, 3-3 LSC) 24-15 to win their seventh and eighth-straight victories.

In game one the game started and ended with two huge hits. ASU continued the plate discipline and tied the school record for 12 walks in a single game.

The game started in a big way for ASU. Two walks and a bunt single had the bases loaded for Rachel Moore. The junior took a pitch to right center for a grand slam to put the Rambelles out front 4-0. Kenedy Urbandy scored on an Ambra Hill fielder's choice to make it 5-0 after one inning.

TWU added two runs off a home run from Katy Stephens to cut the lead to 5-2. The Rambelles answered with two runs in the second. Darian Dunn and Moore both scored on an error by the pitcher to extend the ASU lead to 7-2.

Sandra Serna held the Pioneers scoreless in the third and the Rambelles added three more runs. The bases were loaded when Dunn and Moore added to their RBI totals with fielder's choices and Urbany hit a sacrifice fly to make it 10-2.

The Pioneers would start to swing and score two runs in the fourth, fifth and sixth innings to cut the lead to 10-8 in the bottom of the sixth. The Rambelles answered with another big hit. The bases were loaded and two outs after walks of Spearman and Koria. Dunn hit a ball over the scoreboard in dead center for her fourth grand slam of her career and 11th home run of the year.

TWU would score one run in the top of the seventh to make it 15-9, but Mary Kate McKay struck out a batter and forced two-straight ground ball to end the game.

Serna earned her seventh win of the season after pitching five innings.

The Rambelles did not start game two the way they wanted. The Pioneers pounded out eight hits and scored five runs in the first two innings but ASU slowly started chipping away.

Megan Granado hit a solo shot to right center to put ASU on the board 5-1 after two inning.

Koria hit an infield single in the third inning and would score on a RBI single by Moore.

Granado stroked it again in the fourth inning with another solo home run to right center to cut the TWU lead to 5-3.

Urbany, who started the game, continued working and limited TWU to only allowed two hits from the third inning through the seventh inning.

Urbany helped her cause in the fifth with a solo home run and Granado added her third RBI of the game to score pinch runner Kelly Johnson to tie the game after five innings. Granado finished the game going three-for-three with 3 RBIs and caught two runners stealing.

The Rambelles comeback was completed in the sixth inning. Hill led off with an infield single and Spearman reached on a bunt single. Koria lined a single to left center to give ASU its first lead of the game at 6-5. Two outs later, Urbany punctuated the inning with a two-run home run for a 9-5 advantage.

TWU would score one in the top of the seventh inning but the Rambelles ended the game on a double play for the sweep.

Urbany won her 11th game of the year after the complete game seven innings.
