No. 11 Rambelles Set for Midweek Doubleheader at No. 5 St. Mary's

Two of the top Division II softball programs in the nation will meet on Teusday as No. 11 Angelo State will face No. 5 St Mary's for a doubleheader in San Antonio. 
 
The Rambelles are 31-9 overall after a three-game sweep of ENMU and lead the Lone Star Conference with a 16-3 overall record. ASU has won nine-straight games but are only 4-4 on the road this season. The Rambelles are 15-6 in non-conference games this season. The team continues to lead the conference in average (.368), runs scored (352), hits (392), RBIs (315), on-base percentage (.465) and stolen bases (80).
 
The duo of Morgan Spearman and MIcherie Koria continue to lead the Rambelles overall this season. Spearman's .522 and Koria's .471 are not only No. 1 and No. 1 and No. 2 in the Lone Star Conference but are currently the top two averages in a single season in ASU history. Spearman's .639 and Koria's .582 on-base percentages are also No. 1 and No. 2 in the conference and currently the top two ASU single season marks. Spearman has a 33 game streak of reaching base safely while Koria is on a streak of 20 games.
 
Spearman is also leading the conference in on-base percentage (.639), runs scored (61), hits (60) and walks (37). The senior is seven runs away from breaking Sandy James' single-season record of 68. Koria is second in the conference in hit-by-pitches (14) and third in stolen bases with 25. The junior hit .667 this past weekend with three runs scored and five RBIs.
 
Megan Granado had the best weekend hitting .714 (5-of-7). The junior scored one run and drove in three RBIs. The junior is hitting .315 on the season with eight doubles and six home runs.
 
Tina Cisneros blasted her fifth home run of the season on Friday night. The junior has eight doubles and 26 RBIs to go along with her .295 average on the season.
 
Darian Dunn leads the LSC in RBIs with 69 and is seven RBIs away from breaking the ASU single-season record. The sophomore is hitting .398 on the season with nine doubles and a team leading 12 home runs. She is second on the team with a .750 slugging percentage and Dunn has walked 17 times this season. Dunn leads the team with 19 multiple RBI games and 18 multiple hit games.
 
Rachel Moore and Ambra Hill are both hitting .345 on the season. Moore has eight doubles and eight home runs to go with 34 RBIs. Hill has recorded 30 hits and scored 32 runs this season.  
 
Kenedy Urbany led the team this past weekend with six RBIs. The freshman is hitting .396 on the season and is second on the team with 40 RBIs. Urbany has scored 27 runs while hitting 10 doubles. She hit her eighth home run this past weekend which puts her tied for second on the team. Urbany also threw her first shutout of her career against ENMU. The Helotes native threw a three-hit shutout to complete the three-game sweep. She is now 15-2 on the season with a 3.38 ERA>
 
Mary Kate McKay shut out Eastern New Mexico on Friday night to win her eighth game of the season. The senior went 6.0 innings and only allowed seven hits. The Madill, Okla., native has a season ERA of 2.90 to lead the Rambelles.
 
Sandra Serna won her eighth game of the season on Saturday. The senior threw a complete game giving up three runs on six hits. She leads the team by only allowing teams to hit .248 against her. The Albuquerque, N.M., native has a 3.68 ERA in 19 appearances this season.
 
St. Mary's enters the game winning 22 of its last 23 games and an overall record of 40-5. The Rattlers are 20-3 at home this season and 25-5 in non-conference games. Vianna Gutierrez and Nicole Sardelich lead the Rattlers with a .500 and .437 batting average, respectively. Sardelich leads the team with 66 hits and 14 doubles. Emily Brittan and Gutierrez are stellar in the circle. Brittina is 21-3 on the season with a 1.34 ERA with 11 shutouts while Gutierrez is 11-1 with a 1.70 ERA.
 
St. Mary's leads the season series 2-1 this season. The Rambelles own the overall record 31-29 but the Rattlers have won four of the last five.
 
The first matchup of the year was an 8-6 St. Mary's win in San Antonio. ASU tied the game at six in the top of the sixth but St. Mary's scored two in the bottom of the sixth for an 8-6 win. The second and third matchup was a doubleheader at Mayer Field. The Rambellese took game one in a 11-3 six inning run-rule win. Spearman went three-for-three with three runs scored and three RBIs. The Rattlers took the second game 9-2. Gutierrez held ASU to two runs on three hits.
