Box Score

SAN ANGELO –
The No. 7 Angelo State softball team had its season end with a 7-3 loss to No. 15 St. Mary's in the NCAA Division II South Central Regional Championship at Mayer Field on Sunday afternoon.

The Rambelles finish the season at 41-16. It marks the 10th season since 2002 that ASU has won at least 40 games in a season. St. Mary's (49-12) advances to the NCAA Division II South Central Super Regional next weekend.

The Rattlers started the game off scoring two runs in the top of the first inning.

The Rambelles responded in the bottom of the first. Micherie Koria singled through the left side for ASU's first hit of the game. Darian Dunn hit a shot off the pitcher for a single and advanced Koria to third. Rachel Moore hit an RBI single to score Koria and Dunn would score on a fielder's choice.

Kenedy Urbany and St. Mary's Emily Britain took over. Urbany worked out of jams in the fifth, sixth and seventh but only allowed five hits from the second through the eighth inning. Brittain was as good limiting the Rambelles bats to just two hits through the next six innings.

ASU had a chance in the bottom of the seventh inning to win the game. Tina Cisneros led off the inning with a single to center field. Luz'Ce Baca came into pinch run and made it to third base but was stranded and the game went extra innings.

St. Mary's was able to put something together in the bottom of the ninth inning with six hits and five runs to go up 7-2.

Dunn tried to start a rally for ASU with her 17th home run of the season in the bottom of the ninth but the Rambelles couldn't complete the comeback.

It was the final game for the six ASU seniors in Baca, Carly Peters, Mary Kate McKay, Sandra Serna, Kelci Garza and Morgan Spearman.
