SAN ANGELO, Texas – Angelo State volleyball continues its conference season with a pair of weekend matches against West Texas A&M on Friday, Oct 30 at 6 p.m. and against Eastern New Mexico University on Saturday, Oct 31 at 3 p.m.

Coming off its 14th sweep of the season, the Belles improved to 22-5 overall and 8-2 in the Lone Star Conference.  Under volleyball head coach Chuck Waddington, the Belles are 2-16 against the Lady Buffs but have never won in Canyon. WT will enter Friday's competition looking to rebound from a three match losing skid.

WTAMU is currently sitting at 11-13, 3-9 LSC on the year. ENMU currently 11-13, 4-8 LSC and will be seeking to build off its win last Saturday. The Belles are 13-0 against the Greyhounds under the guidance of Waddington.

"We've got some holes to fill due to injuries and we are looking to smooth things out," commented Waddington. "We've got a couple of hard opponents and that's a hard time to try to figure those things out. However, it's important for us to stay on track in order to keep growing and getting better as a team. Especially, with adding of some new pieces to the puzzle."

Brianna Sotello, Abbie Lynn, Morgan Seaton, and Alyssa Orr will head up the Belles attack this weekend. Currently the team leader in kills (347) and double-doubles (15), Sotello has been a force for ASU. The sophomore has been a steady producer in the Belles defensive efforts tallying double figure digs in eight of the last nine matches. Sotello is ranked in the top three spots in every statistical category for the Belles. In her last performance at UT-Permian Basin, She tallied 11 kills, 10 digs and a .500 hitting percentage to aid the squad in the sweep.

Lynn has been a steady producer for ASU this season and led the attack in the last match up with 13 kills and a season high .600 attack percentage. The sophomore out of Amarillo has 233 total kills on the year and has added 36 total blocks on the defensive side of the ball. She has also marked six matches this month with at least a .350 clip. The middle blocker has steadily climbed into the top five of the total kills category on the squad with 124 this season.

After recording a season high 15 kills against Dallas Baptist last week, Orr returned in the second match of the day against St. Mary's and topped it dropping in 25 kills. In Tuesday's match against UTPB, the junior added nine more to her total of 92, along with assisting the defense three digs and two total blocks.

Dishing out the ball for the Belles, conference assist leader Maggi Jo Keffury will once again look to build on her 1,134 assist total for the season.  The senior is averaging 11.94 assist per set and has 16 matches this season with at least 40 assist. The setter recorded consecutive career highs last week when she tallied 60 assists against DBU and then immediately followed with a 64 assist performance against St. Mary's.
