No. 6 Rambelles Host Tarleton State in Four Game LSC Series at Mayer Field

SAN ANGELO – The No. 6 Angelo State softball team returns home to Mayer Field this Friday for a four game Lone Star Conference series with Tarleton State.

The Rambelles (22-5-1) went 1-0-1 last week in a series with Texas Woman's that was cut short due to weather. ASU returns home to try and improve on an 11-3 record at home and 34-8 record since the renovations to Mayer Field. Angelo State is currently No. 3 in the conference standings while Tarleton State is tied for fifth. Friday's doubleheader is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. while Saturday's games are set for 1 p.m. and 3:30 p.m .

Angelo State has the ninth best on base percentage in the nation at .439. ASU is the league leader in ERA at 1.92. The Rambelles are also second in fielding percentage (.966), on base percentage (.439) and stolen bases per game (2.07).  

Brandy Marlett and Kenedy Urbany have led ASU in the circle by holding opponents to just 2.06 runs per game.  Marlett, the LSC leader in strikeouts with 97, is striking out 6.85 batters per game. She is 12-2 on the season with 14 complete games and six shutouts. The freshman has thrown a no-hitter against St. Mary's and held Texas Woman's to just three hits in ASU's 8-1 win on Friday. The Henderson, Nev.,  native has only given up 24 total runs and limits opponents to a .185 batting average. Marlett has held teams to under three hits in 10 of her 17 appearances and has two games with double-digit strikeouts. Urbany is 10-3 on the season in 14 appearances. She has thrown 81.2 innings and shutout three opponents. The Helotes native is holding teams to a .241 batting average.

Ciara Sheppard leads the Rambelles at the plate with a .400 average. She is on a current three game hit streak. The freshman has 18 hits, three doubles and one home run this season. She has scored 10 runs and batted in seven as well. The Midland native has earned eight walks and a .491 on base percentage.

Micherie Koria has 10 multiple hit games this season to lead ASU. The senior is batting .380 on the year and leads the Lone Star Conference with 27 stolen bases and 10 sacrifice hits. She has 27 hits, two doubles, one triple and one home run. The San Diego native is the ASU leader with 20 runs scored and has recorded 16 RBIs. She is tops on the team with a .516 on base clip and is second on the team with 15 walks.

Tina Cisneros is second on the team with a .583 slugging percentage. She is batting .375 on the season with 27 hits. She is second on the team with seven doubles, one triple and two home runs. The senior has scored 13 runs and batting in 13 runs. The Dripping Springs native has eight multi-hit games and four multi-RBI games.

Urbany has been the team's best power hitter with a .760 slugging percentage. The sophomore is tops on the team with eight home runs and is second with 27 hits. She has five games of multiple RBIs and 14 walks on the season.

Madison Greenweel has led ASU with 31 hits this season. She has four doubles and two triples as well this season. The freshman has scored 16 runs and has stolen 12 bases. Fellow speedster Ambra Hill has 14 hits, 14 runs scored and eight RBIs on the season. The junior is hitting .368 on the year and has stole nine bases.

Lanie Robinson is coming off a productive weekend with a team-high four RBIs against Texas Woman's. The junior is hitting .350 on the season. She has 21 hits, three doubles and 11 RBIs. Megan Granado added to her walk total with three against TWU. The senior has 14 on the season while hitting .347.  She has 20 hits, a team-high eight doubles and two home runs.

Camry Weinheimer has found a place in the lineup with her .341 average. The freshman hit .400 against TWU with two doubles. On the season, she has 14 hits, five doubles and 11 RBIs.

Rachel Moore is leading the team with 17 walks on the season. She has 20 hits, four doubles and two home runs. She has 18 RBIs and a .313 average. Darian Dunn has 15 hits on the season with two doubles and two home runs. The Frisco native has drawn 13 walks

TSU enters with a 16-12 overall record and 3-3 in the LSC. The TexAnns have won seven of their last eight games coming into the four game series. Tarleton State is hitting .314 as a team and led by Katelyn Conlee's .387 average. Conlee has 36 hits, 10 doubles and three home runs on the season. She is the TSU leader with 29 RBIs. Brenna Hennan has the best ERA on the pitching staff at 2.67 in five appearances. Haley Freyman holds the best record at 13-7 and maintains a 2.85 ERA.

The Rambelles hold a 36-13 overall record in the series and won two of three last season.

Friday night's game will be carried locally on 1260AM KKSA with Jeremy Bryant on the call.
