SAN ANGELO – The No. 12 Angelo State softball team will host UTPB on Wednesday, April 8 for a non-conference doubleheader starting at 4 p.m.
The Ramebelles are 25-10-1 overall and 13-5 this season at Mayer Field. ASU is just 4-5-1 in its last 10 games. Angelo State leads the conference with a 2.52 earned run average and sit at No. 37 in batting average nationally at .331.
The duo of
Brandy Marlett and
Kenedy Urbany struggled against Midwestern State allowing 27 runs on 36 hits. Urbany rebounded in the series finale limiting a MSU lineup to just six hits over five innings of work. The sophomore, who has a 2.99 ERA, is 11-6 on the season with 10 complete games and three shutouts. She has struck out 48 batters and limits opponents to a .270 batting average. Marlett is No. 10 nationally in shutouts with six on the season.
The freshman is 14-4 with a LSC leading 1.57 ERA, which is No. 32 nationally. She has struck out 114 batters and limits teams to a .202 batting average.
Five Rambelles are hitting above .350 with
Tina Cisneros on top with a .394 average. She has 37 hits with 10 doubles, one triple and two home runs. The Dripping Springs native has the second-most RBIs with 19 and scored 16 runs.
Madison Greenwell leads the team with 43 hits and holds a .384 average. She has 43 hits on the season with 19 runs scored and 10 RBIs. The Flower Mound native has stolen 17 bases this season. Greenwell has nine multiple hit games and is on a 12 game hitting streak. Fellow freshman
Ciara Sheppard has a .375 average with 21 hits, five nobles and one home run. The Midland native has scored 10 RBIs and scored 13 runs to go with nine walks.
Urbany leads the Rambelles with a .688 slugging percentage. She has a .354 average, 34 hits, four doubles, two triples and eight home runs. The sophomore has a team-high 27 RBIs and scored 19 runs.
Micherie Koria is hitting .341 on the year with 31 hits. She is No. 7 in the nation with 0.39 sacrifice hits per game. The senior has scored 21 runs and added 19 RBIs. She leads the LSC with 28 stolen bases and leads ASU with a .464 on-base percentage. Fellow senior,
Megan Granado, is hitting .340. The Lubbock native has 33 hits and a team high 11 doubles. She has drawn 17 walks. Granado has played four different positions (C, 2B, SS, P) and only committed four error on the year.
Lanie Robinson picked up three RBIs during the Midwestern State series to increase her season total to 14. The junior is hitting .337 with 28 hits and three doubles. She has drawn nine walks and laid down three sacrifices.
Ambra Hill has hit .327 this season. The junior has scored 15 runs and recorded 16 hits.
Camry Weinheimer started three of the four games at catcher against Midwestern State. The freshman is averaging .317 on the year with 19 hits, six doubles and one home run. She has recorded 14 RBIs.
Rachel Moore leads
ASU with 20 walks on the year. The senior is hitting .280 with 21 hits, four doubles and two home runs. She has batting in 20 runs and scored 14.
UTPB is 6-29 on the season this year. The Falcons dropped the first two games of the series with UTPB in Odessa, 6-0 and 12-1. UTPB is hitting .357 as a team with Irene Valdez leading the way with a .349 average. Kim Alonzo has a team best 6.43 ERA with a 306 overall record.
