SAN ANGELO – A familiar opponent will be waiting on the Angelo State softball team in the first round of the NCAA Division II South Central Regional Tournament at 4 p.m. on Friday, May 8 at Schaeffer Park in Canyon.
The Rambelles (33-14-1) will play the Aggies (39-16) for the sixth-straight time this weekend in Canyon. It is Angelo State's ninth consecutive appearance in a NCAA Division II South Central Regional tournament and the 12
th overall for a program that has been around for just 14 seasons. ASU is 5-2 at neutral sites this season and have lost four-straight games to Cameron. Angelo State is also two wins away from 600 with a 598-210-1 record over the last 14 seasons.
The Rambelles pitching staff has been stellar this season but has struggled against Cameron. ASU holds a 3.00 earned run average.
Kenedy Urbany, who is 15-8 this season, was the winning pitcher in the Ramebelles only win of the series against Cameron this season. She only allowed three runs and six hits while striking out two. On the season, Urbany has a 2.89 ERA in 26 appearances. She has recorded three shutouts, struck out 67 batters and limits opponents to a .265 batting average.
Brandy Marlett has been dominant but has seen her ERA increase to 2.46 after allowing 13 runs, 12 earned, in the quarterfinals of the LSC Championship. The freshman has still been impressive this season going 18-6 with 21 complete games, six shutouts and two saves. She has struck out 154 batters
At the plate, freshman
Madison Greenwell leads the team with a .359 average and 55 hits. She has seven doubles and three triples. The Flower Mound native had a season-long 20-game hit streak earlier this season. She is second on the team with 18 stolen bases and has scored 22 runs on the year. Greenwell is also the only player to record four hits in a single game this season.
Micherie Koria is the single season record for sacrifice hits with 15 on the year. The senior is hitting .356 with 42 hits, four doubles, one triple and two home runs. She leads the LSC with 36 stolen bases and is No. 17 nationally in the category. The San Diego native has a team-high 14 multiple hit games. She is tied for the team lead with 26 runs scored
Urbany, who leads the team with a .659 slugging percentage, has a .356 average. She is also the team leader in home runs (10) and RBIs (33). The sophomore has 12 multiple hit games and seven multiple RBIs game.
Tina Cisneros has a .349 average of the season with 45 hits. The senior has the second-most doubles (12) on the team and has added one triple and four home runs on the season. She has drove in 26 RBIs and scored 21 runs while drawing 16 walks on the year. The Dripping Springs native is tops on the team with eight multiple RBI games.
Ciara Sheppard, is hitting .354 on the season. The Midland native has 23 hits, five doubles and two home runs on the year. She has scored 17 runs and has driven in 11 RBIs. Sheppard has drawn 10 walks on the year as well.
Megan Granado has played five different positions this player including third base, second base, shortstop, catcher and pitcher. She is hitting .336 on the year and has 45 hits. The senior has recorded 11 multiple hit games and three multiple RBI games. She is second on the team with 21 walks and is tied for the team high in runs scored with 26.
Ambra Hill is hitting .329 with 23 hits, one double and two triples. She has scored 18 runs and drove in 10 RBIs. She is third on the team in stolen bases with 12.
Lanie Robinson has a .311 average and 32 hits on the year. The junior has recorded four doubles and drove in 23 RBIs.
Camry Weinheimer is hitting .308 on the year with 28 hits. She has seven doubles and three home runs. The freshman has recorded 25 RBIs and scored seven runs on the year. She is tied with Cisneros with eight multiple RBI games.
Rachel Moore has a .298 batting average with 34 hits and four doubles. She has 23 RBIs, 20 runs scored and has a team-high 26 walks.

Kelly Johnson.
Cameron is 39-16 overall and have gone 7-3 in its last 10 games. The Aggies are hitting .356 as a team and .400 against ASU. CU has scored 42 runs on 54 hits in five games against the Rambelles. Lauren Renneker leads the way for Cameron with a .404 average with 63 hits, seven doubles and 20 home runs. She leads the Aggies with 63 RBIs and has scored 48 runs. Kelsey Watson has a 18-7 record and 3.10 ERA. She has 18 complete games, nine shutouts and has struck out 162 batters.
The last time these two teams faced in a regional was last year at Mayer Field. The Rambelles won 4-3 on two home runs in the top of the seventh. Cameron had runners at the corners and tried to score on a wild pitch but Urbany put the tag on at the plate to end the game.
The winner of the game will face the winner of West Texas A&M and Tarleton State at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 9. The losing team will face the losing team of game three at 4 p.m. in an elimination game. The game will be carried online with Daniel Ramirez on the call.
