Belle Volleyball Ready for Two Game Conference Home Stand

SAN ANGELO – Angelo State will continue its Lone Star Conference play this weekend with a two game home stand against Eastern New Mexico on Friday, Sept. 25 at 7 p.m., and West Texas A&M on Saturday, Sept. 26 at 2 p.m., in Stephens Arena at the Junell Center.

ASU is currently riding a six game win streak with an overall record of 13-3. They enter the weekend tied on top of the LSC with an undefeated 2-0 record. The Belles are 10-0 against ENMU and a 1-14 record against WTAMU under head coach Chuck Waddington. The Belles are 5-0 at home this season.

ASU enters the pair of weekend matches leading the conference and NCAA DII in total kills (839) and assists (791) through 15 matches played. The squad is second in the conference in both kills per set (14.47) and assist per set (13.64). Angelo State's 13.64 assists per set, 14.47 kills per set and 19.07 digs per set are all second in the league.

"This is a big weekend," Waddington said. "This would give us the opportunity to put a good foothold in the Lone Star Conference race. Especially, after coming off a long road trip and a couple of conference wins. Eastern (New Mexico) and WT lost their first couple of matches but they are both very talented teams."

Both West Texas A&M (2.04) and ENMU (1.91) are ranked in the top five in the conference in blocks per set and on offense the Greyhounds lead the LSC in service aces per set with 1.51.

The team will look to continue their hot streak topped by attack leaders Mallory Blauser and Brianna Sotello. Blauser, is holding steady at second in the conference with an impressive 218 total kills and is third in kills per set at 3.96. Sotello, who still leads the team in double-doubles, enters the weekend with a team second 198 kills and 3.54 kills per set.
