SAN ANGELO – The Angelo State softball team will face its first true road test in Odessa against Texas-Permian Basin on Wednesday, Feb. 17 in a doubleheader starting at 4 p.m.
The Rambelles are 8-3 on the year and went 2-3 at the WT Invitational. ASU is hitting .330 as a team with 21 doubles and four home runs. Defensively, Angelo State has a .974 fielding percentage and a 3.84 ERA as a pitching staff.
"I want to see us continue to improve and build on what we have established," Angelo State softball coach Travis Scott said. "Even though we lost three games, I think we are confident in the way they swung the bat especially the last two games. We are hitting the ball hard and for power. We are continuing to adapt, develop and grow our pitching staff. Kenedy is in a good grove and Brandy is working on her consistency. I thought Riley showed promise. The attitudes have been awesome and I've been proud the way they rebounded."
Bailey Wallace continues to lead the offense with a .500 batting average and 17 total hits. She has recorded two doubles and 10 RBIs. The Rockwall has a team high .605 on-base percentage and is second with 13 runs scored. She leads the team with six multi-hit games.
Kenedy Urbany is tops on the team with 14 runs scored, 11 walks and four doubles. The junior is hitting .419 on the season with 13 hits, eight RBIs and has reached safely in 11 straight games. The Helotes native is 4-2 in the circle with a 5.25 ERA. She tied her career high with eight strikeouts against Lubbock Christian and has 28 on the season.
Kelly Johnson is hitting .400 in 10 games. The junior has six hits, one triple and two RBIs on the season. She has scored two runs and holds a .471 on-base percentage. She recorded a season high three hits in the win over Metro State.
Madison Greenwell is second on the team with 16 hits and third with 12 runs. She is hitting .372 and is a perfect 3-for-3 in stealing bases. She has five multiple hit games and three multi-RBI games.
Alexis Evans is on a current six game win hit streak and has reached base safely in eight games. The junior transfer is hitting .348 with eight hits, nine runs scored and one RBI. She has also drawn five walks.Â
Taegan Kirk had an impressive weekend with 10 RBIs. The freshman also belted two home runs. She is hitting .333 with 10 hits and three doubles. She is second on the team with 13 RBIs and has scored six runs.
Ambra Hill is second on the team with eight walks and third with a .538 on-base percentage. The senior has a .333 average with six hits while scoring nine runs. She is tops on the team with four stolen bases.
Becky Wilhelm leads the Rambelles with 15 RBIs and has one home run. She has recorded eight hits and tied for the team lead with four doubles.
Lanie Robinson has six hits on the season and two are doubles. The senior has scored five runs with four RBIs and drawn five walks.
Brandy Marlett hold a 4.26 ERA on the season and is 4-1. She struck out 10 batters in the win over Metro State. It is the fourth time in her career she has struck out at least 10 batters. She has 29 striekouts on the season. Riley Adams earned her first action in the circle. The freshman threw 4.0 innings of relief and only allowed five hits.
