Rambelles to Travel for Doubleheader with St. Edward's

SAN ANGELO - The Angelo State softball team will head to Austin for a doubleheader against South Central Regional rival St. Edward's on Saturday, Feb. 20 at 12 p.m.  

The Rambelles are 10-3 on the season and have won the last four games. Angelo State is 2-0 on the road after sweeping a doubleheader from UTPB on Wednesday. ASU is hitting .336 on the season and has scored 98 runs while holding a 3.62 ERA in the circle.

"It is always a battle when we go to St. Edward's," Angelo State softball coach Travis Scot t said. "They play well at home and they have another good pitcher. Offensively, it is the same group with a lot of speed. They will try to get the ball on the ground and run the bases. It will be a good test for us. We are pleased with where we are at and we need to go and try and have a good day before conference starts."

The pitching staff has four arms to choose from with Kenedy Urbany and Kenedy Urbany leading the way. Marlett is 4-1 on the season with a 3.69 ERA. She has thrown two complete games, two saves and struck out 35 batters. Urbany is 5-2 on the year and has completed four games. In 40.1 innings, the junior has struck out 28 and held teams to a 3.99 ERA.

Riley Adams made her first career start against UTPB and only gave up two earned runs. The freshman has a 1.75 ERA in two appearances for the Rambelles. Morgan Hill has appeared in three games and made two starts. The sophomore has a 3.36 ERA and only allowed four earned runs.

Four players have recorded double digit RBIs on the season and have scored at least 10 runs.

Bailey Wallace leads the team in average at.463. The freshman has recorded 19 hits with three doubles and adding 11 RBIs and 15 runs. She has recorded seven multiple hit games and two multiple RBI games.

Urbany is second on the team with a .447 average and leads the team with 17 runs scored. She has collected 17 hits with a team high five doubles and one home run. The 11 RBIs is tied for third on the team. The Helotes native is the leader on the team with a .658 slugging percentage and a .596 on-base percentage. Urbany has drawn 11 walks and reached base safely in 13 straight games.

Kelly Johnson is third on the team with a .389 average. She has seven hits and one triple. The junior has started six games and played in 12 this season. She has scored two runs and recorded two RBIs.

Alexis Evans has come on last with a .367 average. The junior transfer has 11 hits, 10 runs scored and four RBIs. Three of the four RBIs were recorded in the UTPB doubleheader. She owns the Rambelles longest hit streak at eight games and has reached base safely in 10 straight games.

Madison Greenwell and Ambra Hill each are hitting .364 on the season. Greenwell has 16 hits and scored 12 runs and eight RBIs. The sophomore has drawn five walks and is a perfect 5-for-5 on the base bath. Hill is second on the team with 10 walks and leads the team with six stolen bases. She has scored 11 runs and collected eight hits.

Becky Wilhelm went 3-for-5 against UTPB with three hits and one RBI. The freshman has a .313 average with 10 hits and five doubles. She is the team leader with 16 RBIs and has drawn five walks.

Taegan Kirk is the fourth with double-digit RIs with 13 on the season. The freshman has a .289 avearge with 11 hits, three doubles and two home runs.

Lanie Robinson and Brooke Mangold both have .222 averages on the season. Robinson has six hits with five runs scored while Mangold has two hits and scored three runs. The two have combined for nine walks and Mangold leads the team with three sacrifice hits.

St. Edward's is 7-5 on the season and 2-0 at home. Nicole Parnell is the Hilltopper's leader with a .370 average while Breah Whitten has 15 hits. Lauren Slatten is SEU's top pitcher with a 5-3 record and 2.45 ERA.
