KINGSVILLE, Texas – The Angelo State baseball team fell to Texas A&M – Kingsville, 12-0, on Saturday afternoon.
The Rams dropped to 24-16 overall and 17-9 in the Lone Star Conference. Receiving his first start of the season, Jhonatan Del Rosario (0-1) was credited with the loss. ASU was outhit 10-2 by the Javelinas, with the Rams also committing two errors. With the win, TAMUK improved to 26-13, 17-9 LSC and Haden Vesley (3-1) was granted the win.
Texas A&M – Kingsville struck early placing a run up in the first and did not look back as they added four more in the second, three in the third and a final four in the fifth. The Rams two hits came from Sam Kohler and Steven Pinales. Kohler stroked a single up the middle in the top of the first, while Pinales doubled down the left field line in the seventh an attempt to jump start the offense for a late rally. ASU left a total of three runners on base for the game.
On the hill, Del Rosario tossed one inning giving up four runs off of two hits and struck out one. Joe Hauser followed with a three inning performance allowing six runs of six hits. He led the staff retiring a pair of batters on strikes. Kellen Rholl, Joey Wise and Kenton Schroter also enter the game in relief and combined to give up the remaining two runs and two hits. Wise sat down one Javelina hitter on strikes.
The Rams return to Foster Field at 1st Community Credit Union Stadium for a midweek game on Tuesday, April 19 at 6 p.m. against the St. Mary's Rattlers.
