SAN ANGELO – The Angelo State softball team will travel to Laredo to face Texas A&M-International for a doubleheader on Wednesday, April 6 starting at 1 p.m.
The Rambelles are coming off a 3-1 series win over Midwestern State and are 25-16 on the season and 13-11 in conference play. It will be the third and fourth matchup of the meetings with Texas A&M-International with ASU winning the first two games. Angelo State is No. 1 in the LSC in fielding percentage at .972 and No. 2 in both hitting average (.329) and ERA (3.33). The Rambelles are 24-5 when scoring at least six runs this season.
"We need to continue the momentum we have had over the last two weeks," Angelo State head softball coach Travis Scott said. "We got four out of six wins last week and we need to keep that streak going. We need all the wins we can get for regional rankings."
 The Dustdevils are 19-25 on the season and hitting .227 on the season. The pitching staff is maintaining a 3.88 ERA. TAMIU is 2-3 in its last five games. Brenda Parnin is the top hitter with a .333 average while Krystal De La Cruz is the top pitcher with a 9-10 record and a 3.30 ERA.
Bailey Wallace is leading the team in average (.403), runs scored (39), doubles (12), hit-by-pitches (17), fewest strikeouts (1) and No. 3 in on-base percentage (.513). The freshman also has stolen nine bases and recorded 50 hits this season.
Kenedy Urbany, the LSC Hitter of the Week, added 10 RBIs and leads the team with 37 on the season. She is hitting .388 on the season with a team high 52 hits, 12 doubles and six home runs. The Helotes native has also added one triple. The 38 runs she has scored the second most on the team. She has drawn 20 walks and leads the team with a .627 slugging percentage. The junior is 9-4 in the circle with a 3.07 ERA. She has thrown five complete games and struck out 59 on the season.
Alexis Evans has a current streak of 38 games of reaching base safely. She is hitting .387 with 43 hits, five doubles and two home runs. Â She leads the team with 29 walks and a .514 on-base percentage. She has scored 29 runs and driven in 26.
Madison Greenwell leads the team with 14 stolen bases and is hitting .322. She has 47 hits, eight doubles and one triple. The sophomore has scored 35 runs and drawn 20 walks.
Taegan Kirk has a .317 average on the season with 39 hits. She has the third most doubles on the team with nine and has added two home runs. The freshman has driven in the second most RBIs with 33 and scored 19 runs. She has also walked 11 times.
Becky Wilhelm averages .313 at the plate with 25 hits, six doubles and two home runs. She has driven in 28 runs on the season and scored 10 runs this year. She has a .463 slugging percentage and .434 on-base percentage.
Lanie Robinson hit .500 last week and raised her average to .295 on the season. She has currently recorded a hit in seven straight games. She has 26 hits with four doubles. The Hitchcock native has driven in 18 runs and scored 17 on the season.
Morgan Hill has hit .438 in 32 plate appearances this season. She has 14 hits, three doubles, one triple and one home run. She has scored 11 runs and recorded seven RBIs. The Salado native has a .514 on-base percentage and a .688 slugging percentage. She is also 5-5 in the circle with a 4.05 ERA in 18 appearances.
Brandy Marlett had a stellar week going 3-0 and striking out 18. She has now struck 102 batters on the season. She is now 10-7 on the season with a 3.08 ERA. She has struck out at least 100 batters for the second consecutive season and now has 266 in her career. She has thrown 10 complete games and holds opponents to a .252 average.
"It is a long tough trip to Laredo and they have two pitchers that are pretty good," Scott said. "Texas A&M-International always plays us tough. Hopefully we come out and continue to pitch well and play solid softball."
