SAN ANGELO - The Angelo State men's basketball team was unable to pull off a win in their home finale on Saturday, losing to West Texas A&M 90-81 in the Stephens Arena at the Junell Center.
The Rams (14-10, 6-10 LSC) honored its seniors prior to the game, including Quay King, DeVonte' Pratt, Prince Foster, Chase Riley, Thomas Thsikaya, Chase Riley, Shaquan Rhoades, Gustavs Puhovs, Napoleon Onyeje and Justin Hollins.
A pair of those seniors led the way for ASU in the matchup with WT. Quay King led the way with a career-high 31 points, adding in three assists, a block and two steals as well for a memorable senior day performance. Prince Foster followed right behind King with  a career-high 23 points and was the team's leader in assists with five.
Seven other Rams scored in the game, including senior DeVonte' Pratt and Chase Riley who finished with eight and six points respectively. As a team, Angelo State shot better than 50 percent from the field and from behind the arc as well.
West Texas A&M started the game hot from downtown, with three different players hitting three straight three-pointers for an early 9-0 lead. The lead was pushed to 12 when Eric Golightly Jr. made a layup in the paint and was fouled, hitting the free throw for a three-point play.
The Buffs kept the lead just above double-digits until close to the six minute mark when Riley hit back-to-back threes and King followed with one of his own to cut the deficit to just three points. WT pushed the lead back out to nine with 2:30 left in the first half, but a three-pointer from Foster with 37 seconds left closed the gap back to six heading into the locker room.
Less than five minutes into the second half, King hit another three-pointer and then got to the free throw line for two foul shots, tying the game up at 51 all. By the 10 minute mark, ASU had built a small three-point lead, but it would be the last time the Rams were on top in the afternoon. A 9-3 run put the Buffs out in front once again, and they would close out the final minutes hitting free throws to win 90-81.
The Rams will play their final two games of the regular season next weekend in New Mexico, taking on Eastern New Mexico at 7:30 p.m. Thursday and then facing Western New Mexico at 4 p.m. Friday in the regular season finale. Â
