No. 1 Rambelles Head to Stephenville for LSC Series

SAN ANGELO – The No. 1 Angelo State softball team will head to Stephenville for a three-game Lone Star Conference series with Tarleton State starting at 4:30 p.m. on Friday, March 31.

The Rambelles (35-2, 14-1 LSC) have a LSC leading team ERA of 1.45 and offensively are hitting .319 as a team. The TexAnns enter with a 27-13 record and 12-7 in the LSC.  ASU is ranked in the top 10 nationally in ERA (No. 5), fielding percentage (No. 9), home runs per game (No. 8), on base percentage (No. 8), shutouts (No. 1) and slugging percentage (No. 10). 

Brandy Marlett, the LS C Pitcher of the Week, went 3-0 with a save last week in four appearances. She leads the league in strikeouts (168) and wins (17). She has thrown 119.1 innings and is holding opponents to a .150 batting average. Kenedy Urbany is tops in the LSC in ERA with a 0.90. She is 13-0 on the year with 55 strikeouts. She has only allowed 13 runs and limits teams to a .189 batting average. Morgan Hill is 5-0 with three saves on the year. She has pitched 41.0 innings in 17 appearances. The junior has a 3.07 ERA and only allowed 21 runs.

Courtney Barnhill is leads the Rambelle offense with a .433 average. She is tops on the team in hits (45), runs scored (33), home runs (9), RBI (33), slugging percentage (.779) and on base percentage (.543). The Lubbock native also has drawn 23 walks and stole 13 bases. Barnhill hill has two games with four hits on the season and nine multiple RBI games.

Bailey Wallace has 31 hits on the season and holds a .348 average. She leads the team with 17 hit-by-pitches and 11 sacrifice hits. The sophomore has two doubles and two home runs on the season. She also has scored 32 runs and driven in 17. The Rockwall native has reached base safely in six straight games.

Madson Greenwell is second on the team with 40 hits to go along with five doubles and four triples. She has stolen eight bases and drawn 13 walks. The Flower Mound native has scored 24 runs and is hitting .413 with runs on base.

Taegan Kirk leads the team with 10 doubles and recorded 34 hits on the season. She has added six home runs and drawn 13 walks on the season. The sophomore has a .340 average and has a .417 average with runners on third and less than two outs.

Danae Bina has a .322 average with six doubles and 27 hits. The junior has the team lead in stolen bases with 18. She has scored 27 runs and driven in 21 RBI.

Urbany has been consistent at the plate with a .320 average. She has 33 hits, seven doubles and seven home runs. The senior has scored 28 runs and driven in 27 on the year. She has also reached base safely in eight straight games.

Brooke Mangold, Karina Rocha and Alexis Evans have also provided some offense for ASU. Mangold has 16 hits, three doubles and two home runs. Rocha has scored 16 runs and has five home runs. Exans has driven in 24 RBI and leads ASU with 25 walks.

Amanda Ramage, Katlyn Herzog, Kelly Johnson, Megan Gordon, Heather Reatherford, Becky Willhelm and Jackie Montejano have contributed off the bench. Herzog has 10 hits on the season while Johnson and scored 10 runs and driven in 10 RBI. Reatherford has scored nine runs and stole five bases while Gordon has eight hits. Ramage hit her first home run of the season this past weekend against TWU. 

Friday night's second game of the doubleheader will be broadcasted on 1260AM KKSA with Jeremy Bryant on the call.
