No. 1 Rambelles Host Texas A&M-Commerce for Senior Weekend

SAN ANGELO – The No. 1 Angelo State softball team will play its final regular season home games this Friday, April 21 at 6 p.m. and a doubleheader on Saturday, April 22 starting at 1 p.m. versus Texas A&M-Commerce and will honor its four seniors, Alexis Evans, Katlyn Herzog, Kelly Johnson and Kenedy Urbany, prior to Saturday's first pitch.

The Rambelles are 46-4 overall and 21-3 in the LSC and set the single season win mark with a doubleheader sweep of St. Edward's on Wednesday. ASU is hitting .315 as a team while holding opponents to a .187 average.

Texas A&M-Commerce is 30-15 on the year and 14-10 in the LSC. The Lions are hitting .328 as a team with a 3.23 ERA.

Evans, a two-year player at Angelo State, has hit .295 in her career with 80 hits, 10 doubles and nine home runs. She has 61 TBI and scored 55 runs. This season, Evans has a .255 average with 28 hits, four doubles and six home runs. She has scored 19 runs while driving in 29. She has drawn 32 walks on the year with 28 hits.

Herzog has played four years and in 101 games at Angelo State. She has recorded 26 hits, six doubles, one triple and four home runs. The Geronimo native has scored 28 runs and driven in 24. This season she is hitting .286 with a career high 10 hits. Five of her 10 hits have been for extra bases with two doubles, one triple and two home runs.

Johnson has played in 151 games in four years at Angelo State. She has a .276 career average with 42 hits, five doubles, two triples and six home runs. She has scored 53 times and drove in 32 RBI. This season, Johnson has a .276 average with eight hits, one double and three home runs.

Urbany will be ranked in the top 10 on the ASU career lists slugging percentage, on base percentage, games played, games started, at-bats, runs scored, hits, doubles, home runs, RBI, total bases, walks, sacrifice fly, lowest ERA, pitching wins, appearances, starts, complete games, shutouts, innings pitched and strikeouts. She is three home runs away from setting the ASU career record for home runs. She has hit .348 for her career with 212 hits, 42 doubles, three triples and 40 home runs. She has driven in 162 RBI and scored 146 runs. She has a 2.80 career ERA and is 64-20 with three saves. The Helotes native has pitched 535.2 innings and holds teams to a .273 average. This season has been her best in the circle. Urbany has a 1.06 ERA and is 16-1 in 105.2 innings pitched. She has thrown 10 complete games and only allowed 24 runs on the season. She is hitting .319 with 45 hits, 11 doubles and 10 home runs. She has driven in 37 RBI and scored 35.

"This class of seniors has all worked hard during their time here and just kept their heads up every day," ASU head softball coach Travis Scott said. "There's been some adversity here while they were playing and they haven't won a ring yet or put a banner out on the fence, but they've been working towards it this whole time and hopefully this year is their chance to do it."

Urbany has been joined by Brandy Marlett and Morgan Hill to combine for a staff ERA of 1.43. The trio has only allowed 82 runs. Marlett broke the ASU single season strikeout record with 224. She is 23-3 on the season with 14 complete games and six shutouts. She holds teams to a .152 average and only 32 runs. Hill leads the LSC with five saves and is 7-0 after win against St. Edward's. She has pitched 59.1 innings only allowing 26 runs.

Courtney Barnhill leads the team in hitting with a .403 average. She has 58 hits with 11 doubles and 12 home runs. She leads the team in hits, runs scored (44), home runs, RBI (44), slugging (.729) and on base percentage (.509). The Lubbock native also has 28 walks and 14 stolen bases.

Taegan Kirk is the team leader with 16 doubles. She has 47 total hits and seven home runs. She has scored 34 runs on the year and recorded seven home runs. She has 15 walks on the year and driven in 43 RBI.

Madison Greenwell is hitting .346 on the year with 55 hits and a conference leading five triples. She has scored 36 runs and stolen 11 bases.

Bailey Wallace, the league leader in hit-by-pitches with 29, has a .339 average. She has scored the second most runs on the team with 41 and driven in 20 on the year. She has 10 stolen bases and recorded 13 sacrifice hits.

Danae Bina has 39 hits, seven doubles and one home run on the year. She has a .320 average, 16 walks and a team high 23 stolen bases.

Brooke Mangold is hitting .264 with 23 hits, five doubles and two home runs. She has recorded 16 stolen bases on the year and driven in 18 RBI.

Amanda Ramage has 14 hits on the season with two doubles. She has plated 10 RBI and scored nine runs.

Other Rambelles contributing include Megan Gordon, Heather Reatherord, Karina Rocha, Becky Wilhelm and Jackie Montejano. Gordon has the team's best average in 19 at-bats with a .444. She has scored seven runs while Reatherford has scored 12 runs off the bench. Rocha has recorded 18 hits and five home runs on the year. Wilhelm has five hits on the year and Montejano has scored a run.

The series will be televised on RamTV Suddenlink Channel 6 or 106 and Friday's game will be broadcasted on 1260AM KKSA.
