Belles take on WT and ENMU this weekend

SAN ANGELO – The Angelo State women's volleyball team (17-7, 10-4 Lone Star Conference) will look to snap a three match losing streak this weekend as they take on West Texas A&M and Eastern New Mexico.

The Belles have been excellent defensively all season, ranking first in the conference in opponent hitting percentage and second in opponent kills per set. Baleigh Allen has led the Belles at the net all year long, recording 72 blocks. Sundara Chinn has and Sophia Berg have been formidable at the net as well, combining for 109 blocks.

Chinn leads the team in digs with 252, and Makenna Hanssen is not far behind with 235. Libero Chloe Robinson and setter Meghan Parker have posted 230 and 223, respectively, and Morgan Preston rounds out the top five with 165.

Offensively, the Belles have been led all year long by Audrey Fragniere, who has posted 239 kills for an average of 2.81 per set. Sundara Chinn has been excellent all year as well and just went over the 200 kill mark in the last match. Baleigh Allen has been strong all year as well, posting 177 kills on a .327 hitting percentage, which ranks third in the Lone Star Conference.

Setter Meghan Parker has set the tone for the Belles all year long with her excellent play. She has recorded 864 assists for an average of 9.82 per set, both of which rank second in the Lone Star Conference. She has also recorded 39 service aces, which ranks first in the LSC.

Makenzie Griffin, Bailey Drum, and Brianna Hudson have all been integral members of the team this season. Griffin has led the team and posted 10 kills in each of the last two matches. She now has 55 kills on the season, averaging just under two kills per set. Drum has recorded 75 kills on the season, which is good for sixth on the team, and averages 1.34 kills per set. Hudson has posted 35 kills on the year, averaging just over one per set.

West Texas A&M comes into Friday's match with a record of 15-7 (10-4 LSC) and riding a five match winning streak. The Belles are 21-59 all time against the Lady Buffs.

Eastern New Mexico comes into Saturday's match with a record of 8-14 (6-8 LSC). The Belles are 47-20 all time against the Greyhounds.
