SAN ANGELO – The Angelo State women's volleyball team (19-7, 12-4 Lone Star Conference) will take on Cameron and Midwestern State this weekend in their final two home matches of the season.
The Belles have been excellent defensively all season, as they rank first in the conference in opponent hitting percentage and second in opponent kills per set.
At the net, sophomore Baleigh Allen has led the Belles all year long and is coming off of her best weekend of the year. On the season, she has posted 88 blocks. Sundara Chinn and Sophia Berg have also been formidable at the net, with both posting over 60 on the year.
Chinn has led the team in digs this season, approaching the 300 mark with 292, and averages 3.14 per set. Makenna Hanssen and libero Chloe Robinson have been excellent as well, with each posting 266 digs on the year. Setter Meghan Parker has chipped in with 251, and Morgan Preston rounds out the top five with 183.
Offensively, the Belles have been led by Audrey Fragniere, who has posted 263 kills on the year for an average of 3.10 per set. Sundara Chinn is not far behind with 223, and Baleigh Allen just went over the 200 mark with 201 on a .347 hitting percentage, which is good for second in the Lone Star Conference.
Setter Meghan Parker has been excellent for the Belles all season, recording 950 assists for an average of 9.90 per set, both of which rank second in the Lone Star Conference. She has also recorded 44 service aces, which ranks first in the LSC and seventeenth nationally.
Makenzie Griffin, Bailey Drum, Brianna Hudson, and Eadara Files have all been integral members of the team this season. Griffin has now posted 56 kills in just 30 sets played for an average of 1.87 kills per set. Drum has 86 kills on the year, which is good for sixth on the team. Hudson has 35 kills in 37 sets played for an average of just under one kill per set. Files has 54 assists in just 41 sets played, and has chipped in defensively with 42 digs.
Cameron comes into Friday's match with a record of 3-23 (1-15 LSC). The Belles are 32-11 all time against the Aggies.
Midwestern State comes into Saturday's match with a record of 5-19 (3-13 LSC). The Belles are 33-9 all time against the Mustangs.
