SAN ANGELO – The No. 4 Angelo State softball team will face South Central Regional rival St. Mary's on Monday, March 12 for a doubleheader starting at 4 p.m. in San Antonio.
The Rambelles are 24-1 on the season and have won 23 straight games. ASU has scored 198 runs while limiting opponents to just 32 this season. Angelo State is No. 2 in the LSC in batting average with a .369 while also having the most doubles (43), RBI (181) and on-base percentage (.456).
The Rattlers enter the doubleheader with a record of 19-6 and are 8-3 at home.
The pitching staff of Makayla Corbin, Meagan Hill, Morgan Hill and Brandy Marlett have combined for a 1.21 earned run average. The four have only given up 32 total runs of which 26 were earned. The staff have struck out 152 and limit opponents to a .193 batting average.
Hill is 12-1 on the season with one save and a 0.75 ERA. She has struck out 72 batters this season in 75.0 innings. The Salado native has thrown three complete games and holds teams to a .168 batting average.
Marlett is 11-0 with one save and a 1.35 ERA. She limits opponents to a .192 average and have only given up 11 runs in 57.0 innings.
Corbin has only allowed three hits with zero runs in seven appearances while striking out three. Hill is 1-0 with a 3.50 earned run average. She has struck out 14 in 14.0 innings pitched.
Bailey Wallace leads the Rambelles offensively with a .524 average. The junior has 33 hits, five doubles and three home runs. She has scored a team-high 30 runs and a .592 on-base percentage. She is third on the team with 23 RBIs. The Rockwall native has stolen seven bases as well.
Madison Greenwell has a team-high 39 hits. She joins Dane Bina as the only two players with at least one single, one double, one triple and one home run. She has six doubles and scored 27 runs. She has stolen the second most bases with 14 on the season.
Jade Strother has recorded 11 hits to go along with a .423 average. She has drawn eight walks while scoring 16 runs. The sophomore also has a double and triple on the year.
Karina Rocha is the team leader in slugging (1.333), home runs (13) and walks (20). She is second on the team with a .549 on-base percentage. She has a .383 average to go along with six doubles and 23 hits.
Taegan Kirk is hitting .370 on the year with 27 hits, 10 doubles and five home runs. She is one of two players with at least 30 RBIs with 31 on the year. The Lubbock native has also crossed the plate 20 times.
Bina has a .362 average with 21 hits, two doubles, one triple and one home run. She has scored 23 runs and leads the team with 16 stolen bases.
Brooke Mangold has 16 hits with a .320 average. She has two doubles and two triples. The senior has stolen seven bases and has a .404 on-base percentage.
Mykayla Stroud has 18 total hits with two doubles and three home runs. She has driven in 13 RBIs and scored seven runs.
Courtney Barnhill has a .351 average with 13 hits, four doubles and two home runs. She has scored and driven in 12.
Taylor Fogle is one of 10 Rambelles that have recorded at least 10 hits. She has 10 hits, three doubles and three home runs on the year. She has 16 RBIs and scored nine runs.
Others that have contributed include Heather Reatherford, Mylonee Becerra, Jacqueline Montejano, Amanda Ramage and Megan Gordon. The group has all recorded at least two hits on the year.
