SAN ANGELO – The No. 5 Angelo State softball team will host Central Oklahoma on Wednesday, March 7 at 1 p.m. & 3:30 p.m. and welcome Eastern New Mexico for a three-game LSC series starting on Friday, March 9 at Mayer Field.
The Rambelles are 19-1 overall and on an 18 game winning streak. ASU has the No. 4 ERA in the nation at 1.08, No. 2 in shutouts and No. 5 in slugging percentage at .589 among Division II schools. Central Oklahoma is 13-5 on the season while ENMU is 13-8 and 6-3 in the LSC.
ASU pitching staff has been stellar this season only allowing 25 runs in 123.0 innings. Teams are averaging .192 against the staff and only 19 runs are earned this season. The staff is led by seniors Morgan Hill and Brandy Marlett.
Hill has a 10-1 record with a LSC leading 0.58 ERA. She has thrown three complete games and struck out a team-high 59 batters in 60.2 innings pitched. The Salado native has only given up 38 hits and only five earned runs. Marlett is 8-0 on the year with a 1.04 ERA. She has struck out 49 batters in four complete games. The Henderson, Nevada, native has only allowed nine runs on the year and teams are only hitting .173 off her.
Makayla Corbin and Meagan Hill have also seen action in the circle. Corbin has appeared in six games and only given up two hits. Hill is 1-0 in six appearances with one start.
The Rambelles offense is hitting .349 as a team with 146 total runs.
Bailey Wallace leads the way with a .500 average through 20 games. She has 26 hits, three doubles and two home runs. She has a 14 game hitting streak and has reached base safely in 14 straight games. The junior has four stolen bases and a .567 on-base percentage. She also leads the team with 25 runs scored and driven in 14.
Karina Rocha leads the nation in home runs (11) and slugging (1.318). She has recorded a .432 average with 19 hits and six doubles to go along with the 11 home runs. She has brought home a team-high 29 RBIs and drawn 18 walks, which leads the conference. She also has scored 20 runs and leads the team with a .609 on-base percentage.
Madison Greenwell, the team leader in hits with 27, is third on the team with a .422 average. She has scored 18 runs with five doubles and one triple. She has stolen a team-high nine bases on the season. She has had seven multiple hit games and reached base safely in six straight games.
Taegan Kirk has 23 hits with eight doubles and four home runs. She has a .397 average and has 10 multiple RBI games on the season. She has driven in 27 RBIs and is second on the team with a .741 slugging percentage.
Mykayla Stroud has a .326 average in 19 games on the season. The freshman has 15 hits, two doubles and three home runs. She has driven in 10 RBIs and scored six runs.
Danae Bina has 14 hits on the season with one double, one triple and one home run. She is the only player on the team to have at least one hit in all four categories. She has scored 16 runs and is tied with Greenwell for stolen bases with nine. The Kansas native has drawn six walks and has been hit by eight pitches.
Jade Strother has started the last five games and is hitting .400 in 20 plate appearances. She has eight hits and scored seven runs.
Courtney Barnhill has a .353 average on the year with 12 hits, four doubles and two home runs. The sophomore has scored 12 runs and drove in 12 RBIs.
Brooke Mangold has 10 hits with seven runs scored on the season. The senior has four stolen bases along with two doubles and one triple.
Taylor Fogle hit her third home run of the season against St. Edward's. She has 14 RBIs on the year and nine total hits.
Other Rambelles with time at the plate include Mylonee Becerra, Heather Reatherford, Amanda Ramage, Megan Gordon and Jacqueline Montejano. Becerra has five hits and one double on the year while Reatherford has two hits and a double.
