SAN ANGELO – The Angelo State women's basketball team improved to 10-1 overall and 5-0 in the Lone Star Conference with a dominant 79-52 win over Eastern New Mexico.
Marquita Daniels led the Belles with 19 points, four rebounds, four assists, and three steals. Asia Davis and Maria Delgado joined her in double figures with 13 and 12 points, respectively. Essence Johnson led the team with seven rebounds, and Delgado and Dezirae Hampton had six each. Every player who played scored at least six points and recorded a rebound.
The Belles started out fast, holding a 16-2 lead after the first quarter. From there, they coasted, with the lead never dipping below nine points at any point after that. For the game, the Belles held the Greyhounds to 36 percent shooting and 11 percent from the three point line. They also forced 22 turnovers while only committing six themselves.
The Belles will be in action again Saturday afternoon as they take on the Lady Buffs of West Texas A&M at 2 p.m.
