SAN ANGELO – The Angelo State women's basketball team suffered a heartbreaking loss Saturday afternoon, falling to West Texas A&M on a buzzer beating layup 61-59.

Dezirae Hampton led the Belles with 15 points and eight rebounds while De'Anira Moore had a double double with 11 points and 12 rebounds. Mikayla Blount added nine points on three three pointers, and four other Belles scored between five and seven points to round out the scoring.

The Belles took an eleven point lead into halftime and a six point lead into the final quarter but were unable to stop the Lady Buffs time and time again in the fourth quarter, leading to the game deciding final possession.

Although the Belles were hot from three point range, going 10-16, they struggled inside the arc while making just 11 of 45 shots from two point range and committing 16 turnovers.

The Belles will be on the road next weekend as they battle UT Permain Basin and Western New Mexico.
