Belles storm back in fourth quarter, defeat Tarleton State 63-60

SAN ANGELO – The Angelo State women's basketball team (15-2, 10-1 Lone Star Conference) outscored Tarleton State by 10 points in the fourth quarter Thursday evening to win 63-60 in a thrilling game.

The Belles were led by De'Anira Moore, who posted 19 points and nine rebounds. Marquita Daniels joined her in double figures with 16 points, including three clutch baskets deep into the fourth quarter. She added six rebounds, five assists, and two steals on the game. Maria Delgado was the third Belle in double figures as she had 11 points and led the team with three made three pointers.

Dezirae Hampton struggled from the field, but led the game with 14 total rebounds. Mikayla Blount also had an excellent game on the boards with six rebounds of her own.

The game was back and forth throughout, with 13 lead changes and 6 ties. The TexAnns took their biggest lead at the end of the quarter when they led by seven, but the Belles came charging back. With TSU clinging to a one point lead and under two minutes to play, Daniels hit a pullup three pointer and a layup. After the Belles missed a layup to extend their lead, Daniels stole a pass and soared in for a layup with less than five seconds to play. Hampton blocked the TexAnns' last gasp three pointer and the ball fell harmlessly to the ground as time expired.

The Belles will be in action again Saturday as they take on Texas A&M-Commerce at 2 p.m.
