Rambelles Defeat Cameron To End 2019

SAN ANGELO, Texas – The Angelo State Belle basketball team defeated the Cameron Aggies in Lawton, Oklahoma to finish out the 2019 portion of the season.
The Belles are now 6-3 overall, and 3-2 in conference play.
 
In Case You Missed It:
First Quarter
  • Two made three pointers started the first quarter off well for Angelo State as Perrine Manoury and Lana Marov brought the Belles to an early 6-0 lead.
  • Several layups from Asia Davis and Manoury, along with a made jump shot from Catara Samuel extended the Belles lead to 12-5.
  • A made layup and a free throw from De'Anira Moore brought ASU back into the lead, 17-16.
  • A made layup and three pointer from Sawyer Lloyd, along with a made three pointer from Manoury extended the Belles lead over the Aggies to 25-19.
Second Quarter
  • Two made free throws from Samuel brought ASU to a 27-19 lead over Cameron.
  • Two Layups from Moore brought the Belles to a 10 point lead over the Aggies, 31-21.
  • Several made free throws from Angel Hayden, Moore, and Samuel extended the Blue and Golds lead to 13, 37-24.
  • Cameron cut the Belles lead down to four points, but two made jump shots from Samuel and Davis brought the lead back to eight, 43-35.
  • A made layup from Samuel with the assist from Lloyd extended the Belles lead back to 12, 47-35.
  • A layup from Lloyd ended the second quarter for the Belles, 50-35.
Third Quarter
  • A layup from Moore and a free throw from Davis brought ASU's lead to 11, 53-42.
  • Cameron cut the Belles lead down to six points, but a made jumper from Hayden, with the assist from Moore, brought the Belles lead back to eight, 59-51.
  • Two free throws and a made layup from Davis brought the Belles lead back to double digits, at 10, 63-53.
  • Cameron cut the Blue and Golds lead down to three, but a made layup from Moore and two free throws from Lloyd brought the lead to seven, 69-62.
Fourth Quarter
  • A made three pointer from Samuel, with the assist from Davis, extended the Belles lead to 10, 74-64.
  • Cameron cut ASU's lead to just six points, but two free throws from Hayden brought Angelo State's lead back to eight, 81-73.
  • A made three pointer from Cameron cut the Belles lead to three, but a made free throw from Davis brought the Belles to a four point lead, 85-81.
  • A layup from Davis, with the assist from Moore, brought the score to 88-84.
  • A three pointer from Marov and two layups from Samuel and Lloyd extended the Belles lead to nine, 95-86.
  • A free throw from Lloyd ended the fourth quarter for the Belles and extended their lead to 10 points, 99-89.
 
Key Players:
  • De'Anira Moore scored 22 points for the Belles, shooting 9-19 from the field, and 4-9 from the free throw line. Moore registered nine rebounds total, five on offense and four on defense, as well as four assists, and seven blocks.
  • Catara Samuel also scored 22 points for Angelo State, shooting 6-13 from the field, 1-3 from the three point line, and 9-10 from the free throw line. Samuel registered two rebounds total, both on defense, as well as three assists, one block, and three steals.
  • Asia Davis scored 19 points for the Belles, shooting 6-13 from the field, 1-2 from the three point line, and 6-12 from the free throw line. Davis registered 11 rebounds total, four on offense and seven on defense, as well as four assists, and one steal.

The Angelo State Belles take some much needed time off for Christmas break and will return to the court on Thursday, January 2 when they take on the University of Texas – Permian Basin at the Junell Center Stephens Arena. Tipoff is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
