DENVER, Colorado – The Angelo State Belle volleyball team landed in Denver around 9 p.m. Mountain Standard Time and are ready to get the D2 South Central Regional Tournament underway.
The No. 3 seeded Belles will face off against the No. 6 seeded team, West Texas A&M on Thursday, December 5 at 1 p.m. The Belles enter into the tournament with a 28-2 record after claiming the Lone Star Conference title with their win against Tarleton State, winning three sets to two. The Buffs enter the tournament with a record of 22-6. The Buffs currently sports a .240 attacking percentage, averaging 13.86 kills per set.
The Belles currently hold a .265 attack percentage, and average 14.1 kills per set.
Kailyn Gilbreath leads the Belles offensively with a 3.47 kills per set and a .377 hitting percentage, with
Sundara Chinn following close behind with a 2.71 kills per set and a .305 hitting percentage.
Setting for the Belles are the junior-senior combo,
Lindsey Ledyard and
Meghan Parker. Ledyard is averaging 5.05 assists a set, while Parker averages 5.20. Parker and Ledyard are also deadly from the serving line as well. Ledyard has totaled 22 service ace this season, averaging .21 service aces a set, while Parker has registered 32 service aces, averaging .30 service aces a set.
Sophomore
Makenna Hanssen and Senior
Haley Coulter head Angelo States defensive duties into the post season set from the reception angle. Hanssen recorded 424 digs throughout the season while Coulter registered 318.
Sophia Berg,
Baleigh Allen, and Chinn lead the Belles defense from a blocking standpoint. Berg has registered 92 blocks total throughout the season, averaging 1.05 blocks a set, while Allen has registered 85 and averages .89 blocks a set, and Chinn has recorded 67, averaging .70 blocks per set.
The Blue and Gold start tomorrow off with a hearty breakfast at 8:45 a.m., after which will head to the gym at 9:45 to get ready for their practice that morning from 11:00 a.m. to Noon, Mountain Standard Time.
