CANYON – The Angelo State women's basketball team suffered their first road loss of the season as they fell to West Texas A&M 84-71 to drop to 18-3 (13-2 Lone Star Conference) on the season.
Marquita Daniels led the Belles with 20 points, two rebounds, and four steals. Maria Delgado and Mikayla Blount joined her in double figures with 13 and 10, respectively.
The Belles struggled defensively throughout the game, allowing the Lady Buffs to shoot 60 percent from the field and score at least 19 points in all four quarters of play. The Belles shot 44 percent from the field themselves, but struggled from the free throw line, converting just 10 of 17 attempts.
With the loss, the Belles fall back to a one game lead in the conference and will head to Eastern New Mexico on Saturday to take on the Greyhounds.
