CANYON, Texas –
Andres Ibarguen carried the Angelo State University men's basketball team with a career and season-high 27 points, despite an 88-73 loss to No. 4 West Texas A&M on Thursday evening. Ibarguen closed the night with eight rebounds.
Angelo State falls to 10-3 on the season and 6-3 in Lone Star Conference action.

- After trailing 40, Angelo State grabbed its first lead at the 17:01 mark, 6-4.
- The Rams went on an 8-0 run over a 2:16 span before WT ended the run at 15:47 on a layup by John Brown and trailed, 8-6.
- At the 13:57 mark, Collin Turner increased the Rams lead to 17-7.
- ASU claimed another 10-point at the 7:30 mark off a layup by Jeremy Hayes to lead the Buffs, 28-18.
- Starting at the 6:32 mark, both teams struggled to make a basket until the 4:00 mark when Jordan Collins, West Texas, makes a three to tie the game at 28-28.
- The Buffaloes took the lead at the 1:34 mark of the first half, 34-30.
- Hayes knocked down a last second three-pointer to give the lead back to ASU at the half to lead the Buffs, 37-36.
- At the start of the second half, it was back and forth as both teams knocked down a couple baskets to tie the game, 41-41.
- The Rams managed to come out with a lead at 47-45 at the 18:58 mark.
- West Texas went on an 18-2 run over a six minute span but Paul Williams ended the run at the 9:10 mark off two free throws and trailed 63-52.
- From there, the Rams were unable to find their momentum, as West Texas claimed an 88-73 victory.
Notable Players:
- Ibarguen led the team with 27 points and eight rebounds. He finished 11-of-12 from the floor and 5-of-7 from the free throw line.
- Hayes and Turner contributed with double-digit points with 15 and 14 points, respectively.
- Ronald Bell joined Ibarguen on defense, finishing right behind with seven rebounds.
- The Rams out rebounded the Buffaloes, 44-37.
