SAN ANGELO, Texas – The Angelo State University men's basketball team hits the road and travels to Tyler, Texas, and Commerce, Texas, to take on Lone Star Conference opponents University of Texas at Tyler and Texas A&M-Commerce on Thursday, January 30 and Saturday, February 1, respectively. Tipoff is slated for 7:30 p.m. on Thursday and 4 p.m. on Saturday.

Series History
The Rams and Patriots meet on the court for the first time in school history. UT Tyler joined the conference this past summer in the LSC expansion. In the Patriots first LSC season, they enter the weekend 6-12 overall and 3-10 in conference action.

The Lions and ASU have a long history on the hardwood, as TAMU-Commerce leads the all-time series, 49-46. The last time these two teams met was on February 2, 2019 with the Rams claiming the win 81-67 at home. During the season in 2018-19, the Blue and Gold and the Lions split the series with TAMUC claiming an 81-72 win earlier in the season. Since 2006, ASU trails 12-8 in the series and holds a 3-6 record on the road against the Lions. Texas A&M-Commerce enters the weekend 13-6 overall and 9-4 in LSC action.

Last Time Out
Angelo State returned home to host No. 6 St. Edwards and St. Mary's on Thursday and Saturday. Against No. 6 St. Edward's, the Rams trailed late in the first half but erased the 15-point deficit to trail by three at the half. The Blue and Gold managed to claim its first lead of the game at the 18:26 mark of the second half and kept the game tight with five ties and six lead changes. With 35 seconds remaining, the Rams had a one-point lead but lost it in the last 10 seconds to fall short, 78-77, to the Hilltoppers.

On Saturday, the Rams trailed by 13 points twice in the first half and erased it to trail by four at the half. In the second half, ASU tied and took the lead at the 14:41 mark, 41-39. The game remained close the duration of the second half with three ties and three lead changes. In the final four minutes, Angelo State worked up a 10-point lead and almost let it slip away with 1:24 remaining on the clock as the Rattlers came within three points.
Andres Ibarguen and
Camron Reedus put up back-to-back buckets to push the ASU lead back up to 75-68 and it held on to claim an 80-73 victory.

Scouting UT Tyler
Ty Glover and Micah Fuller lead the Patriots offense with an average of 16.4 and 11.8 points per game, respectively. Glover shoots .444 percent from the floor and ranks seventh in conference for scoring. Fuller is right behind him with a .426 percent from field and he leads the team in assists with 44. Defensively, Glover leads UTT with 89 rebounds and 17 blocks.

Scouting Texas A&M-Commerce
Wayne Stewart leads the Lion offense and defense. Stewart puts up 20.3 points per game and has grabbed 122 rebounds, averaging 7.6 per game. Stewarts ranks fourth in the conference for scoring, second in field goal percentage with a .649 and fifth for rebounding. Deon Barrett and Deonta Terrell assist Stewart on the offense, as they average 15.1 points and 13.3 points, respectively.

Andres Ibarguen (12.8). Turner shoots .481 from the field including .402 from behind the three-point line and ranks ninth in the conference. Hayes averages .406 percent from the floor while Bell shoots .507. Ibarguen leads the scorers and the conference with a .698 percent from the field. Defensively, Ibarguen leads with 134 rebounds and averages 8.4 rebounds a game. The 6-5 forward ranks fourth for rebounding the conference.
