SAN ANGELO, Texas – The Angelo State Rambelle softball team begins conference play on the road as they travel to Oklahoma to play two double headers against both the Oklahoma Christian Eagles on Friday, February 28 and Cameron University on Sunday, March 1.
The Rambelles are 13-3 overall in the 2020 season.

Series Matchup:
This will be the third time in school history that Angelo State and Oklahoma Christian have played each other with ASU leading the overall series, 2-0. The last time that the Rambelles and Eagles played each was on March 16, 2017, where the Rambelles defeated the Eagles 3-0. A double from
Taegan Kirk in the sixth inning put her on second and a ground ball to the shortstop gave Kirk the chance to make it home, bringing the Rambelles to a 3-0 lead over the Eagles and Angelo State would keep the lead into the seventh, defeating Oklahoma Christian on their home turf.
Since 2009, Angelo State and Cameron University have played each other 29 times, with ASU leading the all-time series, 17-12. The last time these two teams played each other was on April 6, 2019, where the Rambelles defeated the Aggies in the final game, 5-4. A double from

Jade Strother, giving the Rambelles a 5-3 lead over the Aggies, which would benefit the Rambelles as Cameron would score a run in the bottom of the fifth, cutting the Rambelles lead to one run, 5-4. Angelo State would maintain the lead throughout the rest of the game, defeating the Aggies in the final game in Lawton, Oklahoma.
Key Players:
Courtney Barnhill continues to be a major player for the Rambelles, both on offense and on defense. Barnhill has had 48 at-bats with 11 runs and 17 hits. Barnhill currently has a .583 slugging percentage with one double, two triples, two home runs, and 11 RBI. Barnhill is currently two home runs away from tying the all-time homerun record. From a fielding standpoint, Barnhill currently has a .960 fielding percentage, with 24 chances and 23 putouts.
Paxton Scheurer continues to be one of the most versatile players for the Rambelles on defense, switching between pitching and fielding for the Rambelles. On offense, Scheurer has had 39 at-bats with five runs and 13 hits. Scheurer currently has a .615 slugging percentage with two doubles, three home runs, and nine RBI. From a fielding standpoint, Scheurer currently has a .969 fielding percentage with 32 chances and seven put outs. From a pitching standpoint, Scheurer has thrown for 19.1 innings, throwing 10 strikeouts and a 3.26 ERA.
Genesis Armendariz continues to show her pitching talent and skills as a true freshman for the Rambelles, throwing for a 1.32 ERA for the 2020 season so far. Armendariz has thrown for 42.1 innings with 27 strikeouts and one no-hitter so far. Armendariz threw four innings against a well-rounded, ranked Tarleton State team, throwing three strikeouts and allowing only six hits.

The Rambelles return to their home turf to continue conference play as they host two double headers against the St. Mary's Rattlers on Friday, March 6, and the St. Edwards Hilltoppers on Sunday, March 8. The Rambelles will play the Rattlers on Saturday, March 7 as well, but it will not be a conference game. Game times for Friday are 4 p.m. and 6:30 p.m., the game time for Saturday will be 1 p.m., and the game times for Sunday will be 1 p.m. and 3:30 p.m.
