SAN ANGELO, Texas – The No. 1 Angelo State University baseball team and the No. 14 West Texas A&M Buffaloes battled in a nail-biter on Friday night with the Rams taking the walk off sacrifice fly victory in the 11
th inning, 5-4, to keep their win streak alive.
The Rams improve to 15-0 on the season and in conference action.
In Case You Missed It:
- WTAMU took the early 1-0 lead in the first inning with Kyle Moos hitting a single to left field to score Cade Engle.
- At the bottom of the second inning, Aaron Walters hit a leadoff double to right center field to be in scoring position for the Rams. Nick Seginowich followed behind Walters, hitting a single up the middle to score Walters and tie the score 1-1.
- The Rams scored another run in the bottom of the fourth inning off a Nick Novak double to center field followed by Justin Lee blasting a single to right field to plate Novak for the go-ahead run.
- After being held to four scoreless innings, West Texas A&M plated one run in the sixth off a home run to right field to tie the game back at 2-2.
- Angelo State took the lead back in the bottom of the seventh, forcing WT to make a pitching change. Tyler Mendoza led off with a double to left field and advanced to third after Jackson Hardy hit a sacrifice bunt. With one out, Josh Elvir was intentionally walked and Bradley Mathiowetz hit a single to third to allow Mendoza to score to give ASU a 3-2 lead.
- At the top of the eighth, the Buffs scored another run to tie it again at 3-3 on a two out single and scored the go-ahead run in the ninth with a one out homer to left field.
- The Rams went up to bat in the bottom of the ninth and managed to tie the game once more. With one out and one on, Mathiowetz doubled down the left field line to push Elvir to third. The Buffs loaded the bases and Seginowich hit a sacrifice fly to center field to score Elvir and tie at 4-4 to force extra innings.
- After a scoreless 10th inning and holding WTAMU off at the top of the 11th, Seginowich stepped up to the plate with bases loaded and hit a sacrifice fly to right field to score Elvir for the 5-4 victory.

"Just thought a great college baseball game. The crowd was great tonight and thought they had an impact on the game. Trent gave us a good start and both teams just kept battling.
Nick Seginowich did a great job of situational hitting all night to get us three runs, including the game winner. Sure tomorrow will be another great ballgame and we will be ready to go."
Key Players:
- Seginowich went 1-for-4 from the plate, driving three runs in.
- Mathiowetz and Hardy both tallied two hits for the Rams offense while four other players each tallied one hit.
- On the mound, Carson Childers picked up his second win after pitching one inning with one strike out. Trent Baker had an impressive outing for the Rams. He pitched seven innings striking out seven batters.
