SAN ANGELO, Texas – The No. 9 Angelo State Rambelle softball team hosts their annual George and Ola McCorkle tournament, sponsored by Bahlman Cleaners, this weekend, starting on Sunday, February 21, and ending on Tuesday, February 23.
The Rambelles are currently 1-1 after two non-conference games against St. Mary's and Texas A&M-Kingsville.

This will be the first time in school history that Angelo State and UT Tyler have played each other. The Patriots finished the season with a 17-3 overall record and a 5-3 conference record before the season was cut short due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Patriots return their big stick from last season in Serea Saldiver, finishing with a .386 batting averaging. Saldiver scored 15 runs, registering 22 hits, two doubles, seven home runs, and 24 RBI. The Patriots also return one of their main pitchers in Payton Foster, who threw a 2.56 ERA, throwing 26 strikeouts.
Since 2009, Angelo State and Texas A&M International have played each other 36 times, with ASU leading the series 32-4. The last time that the Rambelles and Dustdevils played each other was on February 16, 2020, where the Rambelles defeated TAMIU, 6-1.

Meagan Hill scored a run for Angelo State to bring the Rambelles lead to 6-1.
Since 2009, Angelo State and UT Permian Basin have played each other 27 times, with ASU leading the series 25-2. The last time that the Rambelles and the Falcons played each other was on March 24, 2019, where ASU defeated UTPB in Odessa, 11-5.

Karina Rocha both hit home runs to score three runs for the Rambelles to bring ASU to a 11-5 victory over the Falcons.

Jade Strother leads the Rambelles offense currently with a .667 hitting percentage, registering four hits and scoring one run. Strother has three RBI on the season so far, with a .667 slugging percentage and one stolen base.
Ashlynn Box currently has a .500 batting average, registering three hits, one double, and one RBI. Box has scored two runs on the season so far, registering a .667 slugging percentage with two stolen bases.
Genesis Armendariz currently leads from inside the circle, throwing a 3.32 ERA on the season so far. Armendariz has thrown six strikeouts so far, pitching for 6.1 innings in the 2021 season.
