Rams Set Record for Most Runs Scored in 29-5 Victory

SAN ANGELO, Texas – The top-ranked Angelo State baseball team set a new program record for runs scored in a game on Tuesday, defeating McMurry 29-5 in the fourth straight nonconference game at Foster Field at 1st Community Credit Union Stadium.

The previous record was 27 runs scored and was set back in the 2010 season against East Central. ASU also tied the record for most RBIs in a single game with 26.

With the win over the Warhawks, the Rams improve to 6-1 on the season, winning their last five games in a row. This was the first game of the season for Division III McMurry as they fall to 0-1.

Also making history was Jordan Williams who became the second player in ASU history to play at all nine positions in one game. Starting at third base, Williams moved throughout the field positions before facing one batter on the mound, recording the out as it flew to the right fielder. He ended the night as the catcher to complete the run at each position.

The Rams scored early and often, taking a 7-0 lead after two innings of play. ASU poured on the offense in the fourth inning, totaling 17 runs to take a commanding 24-2 advantage.

Angelo State tallied only 15 hits the game while getting on base with seven batters getting hit and 15 walks by McMurry pitchers.

Parker Bramlett led the Rams with four RBIs, recording three hits and one run scored. Four other players collected three RBIs while three more finished the game with two RBIs. Williams saw six at bats, recording four hits and four runs scored with three RBIs.

The Rams batted around twice in the fourth inning as the runs continued to come in. Nick Seginowich finished the game with four runs scored but never officially had an at bat, collecting four walks in the game. Josh Elvir also scored four times while finishing with three walks.

Austin Buley started on the mound for the Rams, tossing two complete innings with two hits and two strikeouts to earn the win. Six other players pitched in relief with Landon Schirer pitching 1.1 innings and Carson Childers and Connor Hart pitching one inning of relief.

Angelo State will now turn its attention to the Lone Star Conference as the Rams return to league play to host St. Mary's in a three-game series beginning Friday, Feb. 26 at Foster Field at 1st Community Credit Union Field.
