TYLER, Texas – The Angelo State Rambelle softball team fought tooth and nail against the No. 6 UT Tyler Patriots, but ultimately lost in both games against the Patriots offense in their doubleheader in Tyler. The Rambelles fall to a 16-9 overall record and an 8-6 in conference play.
Game One Results:
With Genesis Armendariz in the circle to pitch for the Rambelles, the Patriots scored five runs in the bottom of the first inning, hitting multiple singles and doubles against the Rambelles defense. Armendariz managed to reister two outs as one batter grounded out to the catcher unassisted, while the second out came off a fly ball hit out to the center fielder on a sacrifice fly.
Victoria Vasquez came in to pitch relief for Armendariz and in doing so managed to register the final out as the third batter hit a fly ball out to the right fielder to end the first inning.
The Patriots managed to put several runners on base to load the bases but were unable to capitalize on it as Vasquez struck out two batters swinging and looking, while the third out came from a fielders choice as the runner on first was thrown out at second to end the second inning.
In the top of the fourth inning,
Ashlyn Lerma smacked a single into right field to put a runner on first, while
Hatty Shope struck out swinging.
Courtney Barnhill smacked a single into center field to advance Lerma to second. Lerma advanced to third on a fly ball out to right field as Fernandez flied out for the second out.
Barnhill stole second as
Keilei Garcia came up to bat for Angelo State, and Garcia would walk to load the bases as
Jade Strother came up to bat. Strother managed to smack a ball out to the right field for the final out of the inning.
In the top of the seventh inning, Fernandez stepped up to the plate and cranked a ball over the center field fence to cut the Rambelles deficit to six against the Patriots, 7-1, but would be the only run the Rambelles would score as the Patriots defeated Angelo State in game one.

- Fernandez finished the first game with three at-bats, registering one hit, one home run, one RBI, and scoring one run for the Rambelles.
- Lerma finished with three at-bats, registering two hits against the Patriots.
- Vasquez pitched for 5.1 innings, throwing five strikeouts and facing 31 batters.
Game Two Results:
With
Makayla Corbin in the circle to pitch for the Rambelles, the Patriots managed to score four runs in the bottom of the first inning to take a 4-0 lead over Angelo State, while two batters flied out to the center field and the third out came from a foul ball to the first baseman.
In the bottom of the second inning, the Patriots managed to put a runner on first base, while two batters hit a line drive and a popped up fly ball to the second baseman. The final out came from a ground ball to the shortstop to give the Rambelles another chance at bat.
In the bottom of the third inning, UT Tyler managed to load the bases up, and scored two runs off of a single hit right up the middle of the field. The Rambelles registered a double play as a one runner was thrown out at second that turned into two outs as the second runner was thrown out at first, scoring a run in the process to bring Tyler to a 7-0 lead over the Rambelles. The final out came from a fly out to left field to end the third inning.
Torrey Hogan came to pitch relief in the bottom of the fifth inning for Corbin, the Rambelles defense managed to keep the bases from being loaded as they threw the runner out heading to first while keeping runners on second and third. Hogan struck one batter out swinging, but the Patriots managed to hit a single into left field to score a runner to run rule the Rambelles in the bottom of the fifth, 8-0.

- Corbin pitched for four innings, throwing 93 pitches and facing 23 batters.
- Hogan pitched for .2 innings, throwing one strikeout and facing six batters.
