SAN ANGELO, Texas – The Angelo State Rambelles softball team plays two doubleheaders at home this weekend as Angelo State faces the Midwestern State Mustangs on Friday, April 9 and the Texas Woman's Pioneers on Sunday, April 11.

Scouting the Midwestern State Mustangs:
The Mustangs are currently 12-18 with a 5-11 conference record after dropping two non-conference games against Southeastern Oklahoma on Tuesday, March 30. The Mustangs fell in game one 5-4 after going to an extra inning, and then fell in game two 1-0. Midwestern State returns one of their power hitters from last season in junior Carson Solis. The junior from Frisco, Texas finished last season with a .415 batting average and registered 41 at-bats, 17 hits, one double, six RBI, and scored two runs before the season was cut short due to the pandemic. Solis is currently batting with a .313 average and has registered 96 at-bats, 30 hits, two home runs, five RBI, and has scored 12 runs this season so far.
Scouting the Texas Woman's Pioneers:
The Pioneers are currently 4-17 overall with a 3-13 conference record after losing their last doubleheader to Oklahoma Christina this past weekend. The Eagles defeated the Pioneers in game one 14-1, then turned around and run ruled Texas Woman's in five innings, 11-2. Texas Woman's return one of their offensive power hitters in Paige Tamayo. The junior from Boyd, Texas finished the 2020 season with a .422 batting average and registered 64 at-bats, 27 hits, nine doubles, six home runs, 22 RBI, one stolen base, and scored 15 runs for the Pioneers before the season was cancelled due to the pandemic. Tomayo is currently hitting with a .381 average and has registered 42 at-bats, 16 hits, two doubles, four home runs, six RBI, and has scored eight runs this season.
Scouting the Rambelles:
- Ashlyn Lerma leads the Rambelles from the batters box as she has registered a .419 batting average, 62 at-bats, 26 hits, one double, one triple, one RBI, nine stolen bases off of 12 attempts, and 20 runs scored for Angelo State. Lerma is currently ranked 11th in the conference in hitting with her .419 average, and ninth in on-base percentage with a .520 average.
- Courtney Barnill follows closely behind Lerma on offense as she has averaged a .393 batting average for the Rambelles, registering 89 at-bats, 35 hits, 13 doubles, one triple, three home runs, 26 RBI, 11 stolen bases on 12 attempts, and scoring 25 runs. Fernandez is currently ranked sixth in the conference in slugging percentage with a .803, eighth in on base percentage with a .522 average, 10th in runs batted in with 27, and seventh in home runs with eight.
- Makayla Corbin currently leads the Rambelles from within the circle as she has registered a 2.92 ERA, throwing for 62.1 innings and throwing 42 strikeouts on the season so far. Corbin currently ranks 12th in the conference with a 2.92 and 15th in opposing batting average with a .248.
