SAN ANGELO, Texas – The No. 20 Angelo State Rambelles travel to Commerce, Texas to begin competition in the NCAA Division II South Central Regional tournament where Angelo State secured the No. 3 seed and will face the No. 6 seed Texas A&M-Kingsville in the first round.

This will be the first time since 2018 that the Rambelles have advanced to the regional tournament. It will be the 16
th appearance in the last 19 seasons in the regional tournament and the 15
th under head coach
Travis Scott.
Texas A&M-Kingsville has a 25-13 record overall and is 13-5 on the road. The winner of game will face West Texas A&M on Thursday, May 20 at 3 p.m.
Makayla Corbin and
Genesis Armendariz have been dynamic for Angelo State within the circle. Corbin currently has a 16-6 record and a 3.14 ERA. She has pitched in 116 innings, throwing six complete games and 73 strikeouts for the Rambelles, and was nominated to the Lone Star Conference All-Tournament Team for her performances in the LSC tournament. Armendariz currently has a 13-5 record and a 3.07 ERA, pitching in 116.1 innings this season. The freshman from Hobbs, New Mexico has thrown five complete games, throwing 86 strikeouts for ASU.
The offense is led by sophomore infielder
Ashlyn Lerma with a .398 batting average, scoring 36 runs and registering 47 hits, three double, two triples, driving in nine RBI, and stealing 18 stolen bases on 24 attempts.
Ashlynn Box trails behind Lerma with a .376 batting average, scoring 31 runs and registering 41 hits, is ranked second on the team in doubles with 12, two home runs, has drove in 30 RBI, and has stolen eight bases off of nine attempts.
Madison Fernandez ranks third on the team on offense with a .360 batting average, scoring 35 runs and she leads the team in RBI with 42. The freshman from San Antonio has registered 41 hits, seven doubles, and leads the team in home runs as well with 12.
Courtney Barnhill is currently hitting with a .353 batting average, leading the team in runs scored with 49, hits with 53, doubles with 17, one triple, tied for second in home runs with six, tied for second in RBI with 41, and 23 stolen bases on 27 attempts.
Keilei Garcia is currently ranked fifth on the team offensively, hitting with a .351 batting average, scoring 27 runs and registering 34 hits, eight doubles, tied for second in home runs with six, tied for second in RBI with 41, and stealing one base off of two attempts.
