SAN ANGELO, Texas – Angelo State baseball's
Trent Baker will continue his playing career after being selected in the ninth round of the 2021 MLB Draft by the St. Louis Cardinals, becoming the 12
th Ram to be drafted.
The all-time winningest pitcher in Rams history, Baker became the second-highest drafted player in program history as the Cardinals selected him with the 271
st overall pick.
"I've had a lifelong dream on becoming a professional baseball player," said Baker. "The hard work and the jouney through Angelo State was all worth it. The Cardinals' organizations is outstanding and I'm grateful to represent them and excited to get to work! Angelo State will always be home with lifelong memories I will cherish forever."
Baker was named the LSC Pitcher of the Year and the South-Central Region Pitcher of the Year after finishing the season with a 13-1 overall record and a 2.11 ERA.

In his career, Baker collected 299 strikeouts which set a new program and Lone Star Conference record for career punch outs, a 2.72 ERA, and finished with 32 total wins, going 32-7 overall.
