Rambelles Go Wire-to-Wire to Pick Up Second-Straight LSC Win

SAN ANGELO – The Angelo State women's basketball team never trailed to Texas Woman's this afternoon to pick up their second-straight conference win by a score of 83-66.

This is the first time since January 23rd and 25th, 2020, that the Rambelles have won two consecutive home conference games; this is also the first time since March 3rd, 2020, that the Rambelles have scored 80 or more points in consecutive games.

The Rambelles shot 43.5 percent from the field for the game, as well as going 18-19 from the free throw line.

The Rambelle defense forced the Pioneers into 20 turnovers and 15.4 percent shooting from three, with the Rambelles converting the 20 turnovers into 20 points off turnovers.

Sawyer Lloyd led all players with a season-high 21 points. The Wall native shot 8-12 from the floor and 3-4 from three in 39 minutes of action. Lloyd also added in six rebounds, five assists and a steal.

Payton Brown scored in double-digits for the sixth-straight game with 18 points, also going perfect from the free throw line in seven attempts.

Blakely Gerber and Tayjanna McGhee-Pleasant scored 15 and ten points, respectively, before each of them fouled out in the fourth quarter.

Madeline Stephens and Samantha Rocha both scored eight points, with Stephens grabbing seven rebounds while Rocha grabbed five boards.

Ashlynn Sharp added in five assists, eight rebounds and five assists in 22 minutes of action off the bench.

The Rambelles are now 5-9 on the season and 2-1 in conference play. They return to action next weekend on the road to face a pair of undefeated teams in West Texas A&M and Cameron.
