Rambelle Volleyball on the Road to Face St. Edward’s, St. Mary’s This Weekend

SAN ANGELO – The Angelo State volleyball team makes their last Texas road trip this weekend, driving to Austin to face St. Edward's on Friday night before heading to San Antonio on Saturday afternoon to take on St. Mary's.

With a 10-10 overall record on the season and a 6-2 record in conference play, the Rambelles are currently tied for fourth in the Lone Star Conference standings at the halfway mark in LSC play.

Last weekend, the Belles downed Lubbock Christian in five sets before falling to Eastern New Mexico the following day.

The Belles' offense is led by Hannah Kinnison and Sydney Mundkowsky, who have 153 and 152 kills, respectively, on the season. Mundkowsky is coming off a career-high 24 kills against Lubbock Christian on Friday while also hitting .417 in 48 attack attempts.

Defensively, Marina Sanchez is third in the LSC with 1.24 blocks per set, while libero Caleigh Enax is ninth in digs. The sophomore also ranks ninth in the LSC with 25 service aces this season.

The Belles made this same road trip to end their season in 2021, winning both matches in four sets.

SCOUTING THE HILLTOPPERS
St. Edward's is 6-13 on the season and 3-5 in conference play. They are coming off a week in which they lost to St. Mary's before turning around and beating Western New Mexico; that win snapped a three-match losing skid for the Hilltoppers.

A defensive presence at the net leads the Hilltoppers in Ajani Hodges. The senior leads the conference with 1.28 blocks per set. Against Lubbock Christian on September 30th, the Fort Worth native recorded 15 blocks, a season-high mark in the LSC.

The Belles are 20-9 all-time against the Hilltoppers and have not lost to the Hilltoppers since October 18th, 2005.

SCOUTING THE RATTLERS
St. Mary's is 10-9 on the season and 6-2 in conference play; they are tied with the Belles in the LSC standings. Last week, they defeated St. Edward's and Western New Mexico. They are currently riding a four-match winning streak, the third-best mark in the conference.

The Rattlers are led by Landri Withers' 195 kills on the season. The freshman has recorded double-digit kills in nine matches this season.

The Belles have won their last seven meetings against the Rattlers, dating back to 2010.

Following this weekend, the Belles are back home the following weekend to host Texas A&M-Kingsville and Texas A&M International.
