Rambelle Volleyball Embarks on Final Road Trip of Regular Season

SAN ANGELO – The Angelo State volleyball team hits the road for the final time of the 2022 regular season this weekend, traveling to Arkansas to face UAFS on Friday night before taking on Oklahoma Christian in Oklahoma City on Saturday.

Coming off a weekend in which both matches went to five sets, the Rambelles could not convert matches against Texas A&M-Kingsville and Texas A&M International into wins.

On the season, the Belles are 11-13 overall and 7-5 in conference play. In the Lone Star Conference standings, the Belles are seventh with four games left, 1.5 games back of a tie in fifth place between UT Tyler and the Javelinas, and one game ahead of eighth place UTPB.

The Belles' current three-match losing streak in LSC play is their longest since October 12-17, 2018, which was also a three-match slide.

Sydney Mundkowsky is the leading attacker for the Belles this season with 202 kills, the first Belle to eclipse 200 in that category. The junior is hitting .226 and has recorded double-digit kills in seven of the Belles' 12 LSC matches this season.

Defensively, Marina Sanchez is second in the conference with 1.16 blocks per set, leading the Belles to a top-five ranking in the LSC in blocks with 2.27 per set.

Freshman teammate Cate Boldrick has emerged as a force at the net, averaging 1.44 blocks per set in her last six matches. On the season, the Austin product is seventh in the LSC with 1.02 blocks per set.

Libero Caleigh Enax is seventh in the conference with 4.39 digs per set and leads the Belles with 29 service aces this season.

SCOUTING THE LADY LIONS
UAFS is 12-12 on the season and 4-7 in conference play. The Lady Lions are 11th in the LSC standings, 1.5 games back of the final playoff spot. The Lady Lions are amid a three-match skid, dropping matches to DBU, St. Edward's, and St. Mary's.

Two-time all-LSC selection Hannah Holland leads UAFS. The Fort Smith native is third on the team with 162 kills and leads the team with 58.0 blocks this season.

The Belles are 4-2 against the Lady Lions, having won the last three matchups. This marks the first time these two teams meet up in Fort Smith.

SCOUTING THE EAGLES
Oklahoma Christian is 13-12 on the season and 4-8 in conference play; despite being 13th in the standings, they are only two games back of the final playoff spot. The Eagles are on a four-match losing streak, having only won one of their last 13 sets.

The Eagles offense is led by Wendy Cobbah's 233 kills this season. The Italian has six matches in LSC play this season in which she reached double digits in kills.

Morgan Demuth (0.99 blocks per set) and Kelsie Schiefelbein (0.98 blocks per set) lead the Eagles defense at the net, averaging 2.28 blocks per set.

The Belles are 2-0 against the Eagles, with a sweep inside the Junell Center last season. Their only previous encounter occurred on October 5th, 1979, when the Belles won in two sets in San Angelo.

Following this weekend, the Belles close out the regular season at home against DBU and UT Tyler.
