Fort Smith, Ark. – The Angelo State volleyball team kicked off their final road trip of the regular season, taking on UAFS Friday night in the two teams' first-ever matchup in the Natural State; after dropping the first two sets, the Rambelles played a lot better in set three but were ultimately swept by the Lady Lions on the evening.
The third set saw the Belles hit .297 as a team, a welcome departure from the .063 hitting percentage they turned in the match's first two frames.
With the loss, the Belles fall to 11-14 on the season and 7-6 in conference play. As of writing, they are still seventh in the LSC standings with three matches left in the regular season.
Despite the loss, the Belles out-blocked the Lady Lions 7-4, with
Elsa Lamphere and Kaila Garnett recording three each.
Lamphere led the Belles' offense with eight kills, followed closely by
Sydney Mundkowsky's seven.
Laney Dale led all players with 17 assists, while
Caleigh Enax paced the way with 16 digs defensively.
The Belles close their road schedule tomorrow afternoon in Oklahoma City against Oklahoma Christian.
