Las Vegas, Nev. – The Angelo State men's basketball team's winning streak ended at six games this afternoon at the Las Vegas Holiday Hoops Classic as the Rams fell to Le Moyne 84-77 at the South Point Arena.
The loss is the first for the Rams in over a month, having last lost to Fort Lewis on November 12
th.
The Dolphins shot 60.6 percent from the field for the first half as they built up a 51-38 lead into intermission; the Rams' defense would shut the Dolphins down in the second half, holding Le Moyne to 24 percent shooting in the second half.
The Rams shot 43.4 percent from the field for the game and made a third of their three-point attempts (7-for-21).
The Rams outscored the Dolphins 39-33 in the second half, shooting 45.8 percent from the field. The Dolphins' largest lead was 15 points in the second half; the Rams were able to cut the deficit to six points but could not get any closer.
Kevon Godwin and
Reggie Quezada each scored 16 points to lead the Rams in scoring. Godwin shot 6-of-13 from the field and made four of his eight three-point opportunities. Quezada went 6-for-8 from the free-throw line and grabbed seven rebounds while assisting a team-high six times.
Devaughn Thomas led the team with eight rebounds, scoring 11 points on 2-of-5 shooting and 5-of-6 shooting from the free-throw line.
The Rams are now 7-2 on the season. They close their time in Las Vegas tomorrow evening against Montana State – Billings; that game is scheduled to tip-off at 7:45 p.m. Central Time, 5:45 p.m. local time.
