Rams Grind Out 59-55 Win over Montana State-Billings

Las Vegas, Nev. – The Angelo State men's basketball team returned to winning ways on Sunday evening at the Las Vegas Holiday Hoops Classic, defeating Montana State-Billings 59-55 in a wire-to-wire victory for the Rams over the Yellowjackets.

Three-pointers from Barlow Alleruzzo IV and Kevon Godwin, as well as a jumper from Reggie Quezada, set the tone early for the Rams as they jumped out to an 8-0 lead in the first two minutes of the game.

The Rams shot 37.1 percent from the field and a season-low 22.7 percent from three-point range (5-for-22); defensively, they held the Yellowjackets to 36.5 percent shooting on the evening.

Godwin and Quezada led all players with 16 and 15 points, respectively. Godwin nailed a pair of three-pointers and grabbed seven rebounds, while Quezada recorded a pair of steals and came just one rebound shy of his first double-double of the season, leading all players with nine rebounds.

The Rams out-rebounded the Yellowjackets 42-31 in the contest; the Rams grabbed ten offensive rebounds to the Yellowjackets' three, which the Rams converted into seven second-chance points.

Tre Mitchell scored nine points off the bench in 23 minutes of action, shooting 3-for-6 from the field; Alleruzzo, in his second start of the season, scored eight points, making a pair of threes while grabbing seven rebounds.
