SAN ANGELO, Texas – The fifth-ranked Angelo State baseball team dropped a doubleheader against UT Tyler on Sunday, falling in game one 9-6 and game two 5-4, at Foster Field at 1st Community Credit Union Stadium.

With the losses, the Rams move to 1-2 overall and 1-2 in Lone Star Conference play.

Game 1: UT Tyler 9, ASU 6
The Patriots evened the series in game one of Sunday's doubleheader, scoring four late runs in the sixth inning.

ASU scored first, generating a run after a Jackson Hardy walk who later stole second before scoring on a passed ball for a score in the opening inning.

UTT gained the lead in the next inning, hitting a two-run home run to go up 2-1 over the Rams.

Hardy got things going for the Rams in the third inning, leading off with a solo home run over the left field fence to tie the ball game. ASU added two more runs as Jordan Williams and Aaron Walters both scored on wild pitches.

Carson Childers started on the mound for the Rams, throwing three innings while allowing five runs with six strikeouts. Jack Brinley pitched three innings of relief, allowing only two hits with no runs, and collecting two strikeouts.

Scoring continued for the Patriots in the top of the fourth inning, adding a run off a single through the left side of the field before a two-RBI double made it 5-4 in favor of UTT.

The Rams added one run in the fifth after Williams grounded out to score Hardy while Thomas Cain hit his first career home run in the sixth to take a 6-5 lead.

UTT sealed the game in the top of the seventh inning, scoring four runs, including three off a three-run homer to left field.
