SAN ANGELO – On a day in which the Angelo State celebrated two of their most decorated players in the young program's history, the Belles sent Ena Ovcina and Valentina Gonzalez out on a high note with a 7-0 sweep of Western New Mexico this afternoon in their home finale.
Esther Bowers and Eva Schwartz started things off quickly with a 6-1 win at line three, only taking 20 minutes to do so.
Ramitha Irrinki and Ayda Guler quickly followed at line two to clinch the point before Ovcina and Gonzalez finished the doubles sweep at line one.
Singles play was more of the same for the Belles, with all six matches won by the Belles in straight sets.
Bowers' 6-1, 6-0 win at line six took just under an hour and was quickly followed by Guler and Dianela Rodriguez's wins at lines three and one to clinch the match for the Belles.
Schwartz, Irrinki, and Alexandra Vishnevskaya also claimed singles wins to complete the sweep.
The Belles cap off the regular season with a 16-6 record and an 8-1 record in LSC play. They clinch a share of the LSC Regular Season Championship for the third season in a row, along with Cameron and St. Mary's.
