Arlington, Texas – In the opening round of the LSC Tournament, the Angelo State tennis team started strong, battling to earn the doubles point and jumping out to a 3-0 lead; however, a valiant effort by six-seed UT Tyler saw them complete the comeback and claim the 4-3 win over the Belles.
Ramitha Irrinki and
Ayda Guler made quick work of Brooklyn Ross and Chloe Dix at line two with a 6-1 victory.
Esther Bowers and
Eva Schwartz clinched the doubles point at line three with a 6-4 win.
Valentina Gonzalez doubled the Belles' lead with a 6-2, 6-1 win at line two over Ross before doubles' partner
Ena Ovcina extended the lead with a three-set win at line three.
The Patriots fought back from dropping the first set at lines four, five, and six to win those respective matches; the Patriots' Leony Deutschmann completed the comeback with a victory at line one over
Dianela Rodriguez.
The Belles are now 0-3 all-time in the LSC Tournament; they await their postseason fate on May 3
rd for the NCAA selection show.
