#7 Rambelles Close Out Regular Season against #13 Lubbock Christian

SAN ANGELO – With only two games separating second and sixth place in the LSC standings, this weekend represents a critical two games for the Angelo State softball team as they close out the regular season this Saturday with a doubleheader against Lubbock Christian.

The Rambelles are 38-7 overall on the season and 21-7 in conference play; they currently sit in a tie for fourth place with Texas A&M-Kingsville, with both teams one game back of a second-place tie between Lubbock Christian and Texas A&M-Commerce.

The Rambelle offense, like they've done all season, is still top ten in the country in home runs despite leaving the yard only three times last weekend. Their 65 home runs are sixth in the nation.

They also rank seventh in on-base percentage and second in walks drawn with 195, one behind national leader Texas A&M-Commerce.

Paxton Scheurer is second in the country with 22 home runs and 70 RBIs, while teammate Ashlyn Lerma is sixth in Division II with 43 stolen bases this season. Her next stolen base will put her into the top five for stolen bases in a single season in program history. Her 43 stolen bases are the most in a single season since Sarah DeMoss stole 50 bags in 2010.

In the circle, Genesis Armendariz and Torrey Hogan are both in the top five in the league in wins with 18 and 16, respectively. Armendariz is also ninth in the LSC with 115 strikeouts this season.

SCOUTING THE LADY CHAPS

Lubbock Christian is 36-8 on the season and 22-6 in conference play; they are currently in a tie for second place in the LSC standings, two games back of leaders UT Tyler.

This season, the Lady Chaps have taken five losses at home, with four coming against ranked opponents.

This season, Taylor Franco leads the conference with 19 wins and has only allowed a conference-best 4.5 hits per seven innings.

The Rambelles are 8-1 against the Lady Chaps since 2013 and 2-0 in Lubbock, having last played there in 2017.
