CANYON, Texas – The Angelo State track & field teams finished their final meet prior to the NCAA Division II Outdoor Championships, competing at West Texas A&M's Last Chance on Sunday.
The 10
th-ranked Belles won four events on the day while coming in second in two others. The 4x100-meter relay team of
Shiean Walters,
Hannah Porter,
Maricia Spence and
Zykia McDaniel improved on their provision time, finishing in 46.01 to win the event.
Porter also took first in the 100-meter dash, matching her best time of the season at 11.70.
Jennifer Batu took first overall in the women's hammer throw, hitting a distance of 55.41m (181'-9") while
Talena Murray had the top throw in the women's javelin with a throw of 42.46m (139'-4").
Abby Zamzow finished in second in two events, earning a mark of 12.29m (40'-4") in the triple jump and 5.94m (19'-6") in the long jump.
For the 13
th-ranked Rams, Nicholas Ellisor and
Axcel Santana both improved on provisional marks as Ellisor finished the 400-meter run in 47.43 to take third while Santana finished fourth in the triple jump with a mark of 15.13m (49'-7.75").
David Morgan finished in third in the 100-meter dash at 10.41 while the 4x400-meter relay team of
Bossman Pinkrah, Emmett Seals,
Jonathan Ramirez, and Ellisor ran a time of 3:13.53 to take third.
The Rams tallied two more third place finishes in
Jacobee Jones in the pole vault (4.95m | 16'-2.75") and
Cole Paxton in the shot put (16.15m | 53'-0").
Elvis Kryukov also picked up a provisional mark in the long jump with a mark of 7.37m (24'-2.25").
ASU will pause the weekend before beginning competition at the NCAA DII National Championships beginning Thursday, May. 26.
