Scheurer Named to D2CCA All-America Second Team

Russellville, Ark. – Angelo State's Paxton Scheurer earned another All-American honor, being named a Division II Conference Commissioner's Association (D2CCA) Second Team All-American, the organization announced yesterday evening.

This caps off an award-laden spring for the third baseman, who, amongst other awards, was named the LSC Player and Academic Player of the Year and the D2CCA South Central Region Player of the Year. Yesterday, she was named an NFCA First Team All-American.

Scheurer was one of three players in the Rambelle lineup to play in and start all 51 games this season for head coach Travis Scott. Handling the hot corner and batting towards the top of the lineup, the Mansfield native led the team with a .370 batting average. She led the Lone Star Conference with 23 home runs and 72 RBIs while slugging .842.

Nationally, she ranked second in home runs and third in RBIs. Her .842 slugging percentage and 23 home runs are second-best in a single season, and 72 RBIs are third in program history.

The D2CCA All-America and All-Region softball teams, which are selected by College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) members from schools playing Division II softball, were first established in 2007. This year represents the seventh year in which the Division II Conference Commissioners Association solely sponsored the program.
